I'm considering buying a ff setup and curious how these two compare. Cinevate's version is about $1200 vs RRM's $800

Any thoughts?

I love my Cinevate, have not used the red rock though..

Brandon, if you decide to get the Cinevate FF, I'll sell you mine for $850. I think it is in fact superior to the RRM, but as I find the Cinevate lens gears awkward to use, I would recommend using the RRM lens gears instead.

I just bought the CAvision dual sided 19mm follow focus for like $1200 and I am very happy with it. I am much happier with this than the Redrock FF it replaced. The RR FF worked fine, I just really needed dual sided and the gear box causes problems with shorter lenses.

It took a lot of tuning to get it right, but now I am very happy. 17mm of play when it arrived, but now I have right at 1mm, maybe less. Just used it on a feature and it worked great. I plan to write a review when things slow down a little.

I'm very happy with the RRM. :)

I recently got the RRM and have been very happy with it. It even worked on a set of Anamorphic lenses- the 35mm lens was HUGE. You can check out my write up and see pictures of the lens here:

I was considering taking Jaagdy up on his offer, but he has the 15mm version and I need the 19mm. So if anyone is interested in a 15mm Durus, you should probably send him a PM :)

Thanks Ryan, I read the article, good to know. I was curious how the v2 was improved over the first version. If I was going 15mm with cine glass, i think I'd pull the trigger on the RRM. But I need top spend extra on the 19mm adapter and then more for the gear rings for my Nikon zooms. Considering the gear rings come with the Durus, there's only about $200 difference between the 2 I think.

Any other opinions? :)

the durus seems more versatile, with the exception that the RRM "clips" on and the durus appears to "slide" on. Can anyone confirm this?
