This lens is a great workhorse for run and gun shooting but I still don't quite understand the reasons behind the front diameter sizing.

v1 was a mistake and RED acnkowledged as much by making the v2 and allowing an upgrade path.

But now the v2's "114mm" front diameter is still a couple of millimeters larger then RPP "114mm", if that makes any sense at all.

I've had convert the MMB1 to 143mm to accommodate v1 and had to lose the bellows filter stage, then converted to v2 to be able to use it with bellows again only to find out that it vignettes, now back to 143mm with step down rings only to find out that it does not quite fit. :(

While on the subject, anybody received their v2 lens caps yet? This lens just loves to scoop dust in between the elements without it.

+1 for the lens cap, shouldn't take more than half a year to make that i would think...;)

I have no problem with the obox fitting the 114mm, fits good.

the duclos 114mm cap works great.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but... The RPPs are not 114, but 110mm front, so the 17-50 is correctly "a couple of millimeters larger" at 114mm.
