  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RPPs

The physical housing was interfering with the handle on the lens mount. Fits fine on RED's mount but then most mounts don't look like the RED's. It's a minor adjustment.

Mark brought over the lenses to Abel yesterday for us to take a look. As Jarred noted, these are pre-production units so I don't think it fair for me to comment on them good or bad. I'm sure the finished lenses will be something with which many, many people will be happy.

SAY WHA!!!?! Hmm, thought these were ready to go.

Is the problem the clearance on the exterior of the camera (eyepiece, mirror shroud) or the interior?

There is the Chin on the 435 and the ears on the Mount. The fix was done last week, the tooling is almost finished modified. Just pushed us back an extra couple of weeks.

Damn 435! It's always been a pain in the ass for mounting lenses. In between it and the Moviecam SL I have had to return more than a few lenses at a prep for lack of clearance.

Hows about the 235? the ST? Aaton 35? Arri III?

Only the very 1st ones have a short delay... but the delay doesn't trickle back through production.

the exact time unfortunately is impossible to answer right now till the machines actually start pumping them out.

This delay will not affect the production numbers globally, just offset the first May shipment. The June shipments and forward should be on track as normal, assuming the tweaks are all resolved over the next week and everything is ready to go.

The modifications are purely cosmetic engraving and exterior mount clearance change... I.E. changing the T1.9 to T1.8 engraving on the lenses. If some of you out there do not care about the engravings, and don't care about the lenses ever fitting on an Arri 435 or a film mount that has dog ears on it, you can PM me and we can QA and Collimate the lenses and ship those out now.

Hey aren't you supposed to be getting married or something?

AATON is good.. its the mounts with little ears that stick up that sometimes cause grief.

The aspect ratio of that still (combined with the red banner in the background) would almost make one think it was shot with a RED camera of some sort.

So will the original RED PL mount be a problem or are they okay.

Once we begin shipping the RPP, you can contact our BOMB SQUAD rep (Brian Byrne) who is in charge of backorder fulfillment at brianb - at - red - dot - com for an estimated timeframe.

Jarred can you comment about the markings on the lens in that AAton picture? They seem a little sparse. 10' 20' 50' I hope that is a prototype.

"its the mounts with little ears that stick up that sometimes cause grief"

& it's the ears that stick out (forward toward rear of lens) like the sony F35 = the Red 18-85 will not mount on F35 ...
