  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RPP outer ring size for screw-on filter question

110mm outside diameter... 4x4 filters cover current crop of lenses... maybe go 4x5.65 for future wide angles though. LMB5 is a nice mattebox for them.

I think he's asking about screw-on filters for the front filter threads -- what size are those?

4x4 filters would only barely cover. In fact at 25mm and wider, I don't see 4x4 covering if you're stacking two or more. And 4x5.65 is probably going to be necessary once 5K Mysterium-X coverage is needed.

As for front threads, I don't have my RPP's yet, so can't comment.

However, I do have the 300mm RPP and the front threads are not usable. That lens has a 112mm thread diameter, but the actual thread size is non-standard, so a 112mm filter only threads in about 1/2 turn before it locks up tight. These threads are more likely a part of the lens assembly process and not intended for filter use. I don't currently have any way of knowing if the other RPPs are the same way or not. If the threads are non-standard, a machine shop should be able to make an adapter ring if needed that would work for these lenses.

It covered it this morning. 25mm with an LMB5 and two filter trays with 4x4 filters. Unless I dreamt it! :)

I will check again though since you've put doubt in my mind Jeff.
