Does anyone have any experiences (good or bad) with the Rotolight Anova 2?
I have an opportunity to pick a few up quite cheaply, and wondered if they worth worth my time as a basic budget LED?

Many thanks!
Gary

I'm wondering the same as well. On paper they look like a great tool to have specially if you're going to be traveling to remote locations without the ability to bring a generator along.

Anyone?

How cheaply are you talking? They're quite hefty IMO.

Its advertised output is equivalent to 3.65k incandescent. I've seen one for myself and I don't really think it's that hot. I think the wifi feature saves a lot of time on set, enabling the output to be controlled from an iPad.

Good LED are about 100 lm/W (lumens per Watt), about 5 times more efficient than tungsten lighting which is about 20 lm/W. The rotolight is 38 Watts according to their website so it is roughly comparable with a 190 Watt tungsten light. That's not very bright and certainly not 3.65k.

A quick update, as last night I went and had a demo of one of these lights..
TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE!

Light output was as Sander suggested, and while I couldn't use charts (surprise, surprise they wouldnt let me shoot a chart), I could see footage one of the other DPs there had shot with them. Even to my admitted-less-than-trained-eye, i could see green all over the image.

Ugh, a wasted evening but avoided being scammed I think

We own 4 Anovas, two upgraded standard Bi color, and two upgraded wide Bi color. The update increased the light output and fixed the color issues they we having at 3200. My only problem is they are hard to travel with. Otherwise I like them. easy to use, and low power. Wifi control works well.
