Hey Guys, Purchased the Ronin MX when it was announced as being able to handle up to an Epic, and since receiving it I have had nothing but issues. I purchased the extra kit that they make you purchase (sneaky way to get an additional $175 out of you) and still having absolutely no luck with a Scarlet W. Everytime it seems balanced, I get it up and running, go back to look at the footage and it is wobbling all over the place. Half the time, I'll get the camera balanced, boot up the app to calibrate it, the app says to rebalance the camera, I'll kill the motor and it suddenly looks like the camera completely shifted and is not even close to being balanced.

Anyone have any luck at all with this thing or did DJI pull one over on all of us? So far I am regretting my decision to sell my Ronin to get the lighter sibling.

I have one with epic dragon with 18-35 sigma art lens, take everything off, power from on board battery, I have not done hard long days with it but, its worked, I did have to upgrade the unit, lots of small upgrades for individual motors thru my laptop. Its a pain to take all the bits off but in truth thats the advantage, its light, easy to hold and move around and have not had any issue with the footage or fast whips around. I think it suits my needs as the big ronin let me down lots and was too heavy to be useful, many people are more than happy but too much effort for me. The battery overhead is a pain if your looking up lots, I have this mainly for mounting to the car and usually hold it in what ever that upside down mode is called. I'm happy so far. I should do a video of it just to add fuel to the fire.

Cheers
Ian

I can only speak for myself and how I use the MX.

First I used it with the Canon 24mm f2.8 STM lens with no additional accessory with my Red Raven balance and filmed a music video no issue for 4 hours of usage.

I also used it with a Carl Zeiss CP.2 21mm Lens of course I had to use the Cinemilled MX plate and counterweight and DJI Red kit but it balance well and used it for 5 hour music video shoot no issues.

FYI: I did use the additional battery slot in the back of the MX for powering up my raven with the DJI smart battery got about 40 plus minutes with it.

So at this time I have no complaints.
