I run a movi pro setup on a black arm with my red...along with a movi controller to operate and pull focus/iris myself while on the controller.

Problem is that the movi xl is too big, however, the ronin 2 fits the bill nicely for car rigs.

Anyone shooting on the ronin 2 that could guide me on their thoughts? Is the controller for the ronin 2 useable like the movi controller? Can I pull focus/iris myself without having to go to a 3rd crew member? (2nd crew member drives my vehicle)

Thanks!

Ryan

If you are trying to replicate the functionality of a $48,000.00 fully rigged system with something that may be in the range of $15k, you may be disappointed. Don't take me wrong. Ronin 2 is really a nice professional 3-axis stabilization system. We own one and did use it on couple of features with a RED Epic-W hanging with Tokina Cinema Vista primes, 3 axis FIZ system and a fully flagged matte-box with NDs. However, if you are running a MōVI XL optical gyro edition including the Pilot 3 Axis F/I/Z Controller you are in good shape. Especially on the payload and FIZ areas. Ronin 2 has a max payload of 30 lbs while movie can handle up to 50 lbs. DJI does not have a complete FIZ system like the Pilot 3 Mimic combo. They do have a device similar to Mimic and it is called the "DJI Force Pro".
