Friends,

I pretty much work as a single camera man with no other help, so I need to film everything myself, including focus, pan+tilt etc. With R2, i was wondering how you setup the gimbal to be able to control the camera movement yourself, note that I don't open my aperture fully enough, normally shoot in T/F8 and below, so focus is not really a concern. How best do i setup the gimbal to effectively pan/tilt with my own movement? I have a readyrig with me.

Cheers,

I use the R2 with pan/tilt operated by me via smoothtrack. It works pretty well. I would honestly just play around with the settings until you find a speed / deadband that works smooth/naturally for your needs. If you'd rather use your thumb to adjust pan/tilt, cinemilled just announced with a fancy new thumb controller that looks promising, but no price or release date yet.

As for focus, I always use a focus puller so I don't have any firsthand experience to draw from. Although the Tilta Nucleus has some sort of thumb controller for gimbals that you may be able to hook up to the R2.

Also readyrig is a must. Good call there.
