Rokinon upgrade

Hi Guys,

Im looking for an upgrade from my rokinon's. I was looking at the schneider xenon's but I need a little help, they are for my Epic MX (It will stay a MX)
Looking for around 6.000 a piece, someone can give me some info?

Better image quality?
Better Mechanics?

for (much less sometimes) 36k you could get:

Used Set of Red Pro Primes
Brand new set of Sony Cinealta Primes from bhphoto (~$13k for 6 lenses)
Used Zeiss Superspeeds (with a little bit of shopping around)
Brand New Zeiss CP2
a variety of different zooms
Schneider Xenars (I like the xenars over the xenons personally)
Cooke S4-minis (former new panchros)
Illumina Superspeeds(modern version of Lomos - pretty awesome lenses)

Are you looking for a personal set?

A rental set?

It's a persenal set as owner operator, looking for better image, what I like about the rokinon's is the 35 and especially the 85, but the 24 is so god dammn awful.

I'd like to join, kind of in the same situation right now, but my MX will go Dragon in a month.

I'm looking for better mechanics and image quality + a good "rentability", though I will use them for personal projects too.

S4 minis are out of the questions cause a need my glass to be at least T2 (doing a good amount of "all natural lighting" shoots).

I bought the xenons for my mx because I intended to do the Dragon upgrade. I've been very happy with the image out of them and my clients have too. Have been extremely frustrated at how slow they've been to actually produce the 25, 100 and 135. If you're staying Mx it's hard to beat the value of the rpp's if you can deal with the weight.

I am more worried about coverage of Reds future sensor then heavily investing in S35 is my primary concern right now...Since Xenons would work on both my Arri and my future possibly full frame sized red it seems like the safer bet...same way I want Oconnor Matte and Follow Focus so it can do 15mm or 19mm on all my stuff...I just want to try and buy smart if I can is my concern since I'm already like over 100k in on bodies and media alone lol...

Agree with that. I wouldn't invest too much into S35-cine-primes anymore. Xenons are a pretty smart option today, way cheaper than 6k per prime. For the saved money one could upgrade to Dragon.

Otherwise, lots of stuff is going on currently, with NAB2015 coming soon.

I will take everyone's S35 Cine glass off their hands when they don't need them anymore. Pennies on the dollar. Anyone?

I'm still a huge fan of the Rokinons when it comes to shooting EF glass. It's my go to glass for EF mount jobs. But for my personal PL set, I bought the 18-35mm 1.8t rehoused by Allstar. Perfect for steady and movi jobs/shots. And I bought the Schneider Xenons 35, 50, 75, 100. They match well together and look great. The only downside of the all-star 18-35 is the lens throw, but GL optics has a 300 degree option. And for the Schneider's there are prone to a good amount of CA at times. Other then that, they are a great buy, weight, lens throw, gears, size is the same on the Xenons, and the alstar size, lens gear, and weight is very close to the xenons, making lens swaps easy and quick. Below are some grabs of the glass from some jobs that I did. All running the same filtration, but obviously different lighting setups.
