What kind of Rod solution will Epic have? I searched the forum and found a thread on the cheese-plate which appears to be a clamping design (which probably allows for changing modules without having to address the camera's actual mounting apparatus). Will the rod solution be integrated into this?

I'm assuming that Red will have some kind of rod solution, will it be included in the stage 2&3 upgrades?

There will be a base like the ET Hybrid for 19mm / 15mm rods. But there will also be something new for NATO accessories. Should be interesting to see what kind of configurations and accessories people come up with using the NATO standard.

I think both base plates will be ~$500 each.

The Epic and Scarlett will have a new generation of the Hybrid Arri plate pictured below, smaller and lighter, and better looking ;), it will be fully compatible with current Studio Clamps in 15mm or 19mm, which as you can see on second pic attach to the Hybrid core.

I'm interested in seeing how the top rod system works...

For instance, will it have to stack 3 accessories high in the front to put put on a rod holder, top handle and touch screen? And will the antennas from the proxy module fit between them?

The cool thing about the whole modular system is how configurable it will be. Most of the images on the site show a DSLR configuration. I'm dying for Red to show a shoulder mount set up based on the hands free rig that they showed at NAB. So far there's only been an Epic render of a shoulder mount.

The Epic has the same issue as the RED One in that the 15mm light weight system will intersect with the body. So an adapter from either 19mm or a newly created 15mm light weight rod system would need to be developed.

I am planning on updating my FF and MB to 19mm. It's a shame because I have a 5DMKII and it works well with all the 15mm gear I have (and will be selling).

Hah. Would have been awesome if they had threads in the front of the body for 15mm rods like the 16mm cameras!
