Currently I am having some issues with my setup that I just built. My Rocket-X glitches every other frame with a weird green overlay, Transcode remaining time increases, and it also crashes Davinci Resolve 11.

I am currently running

Mac Pro / 6 Core / 2X D7000 / 64GB RAM / Mavericks Latest
Sonnet X Mac Pro Chassis
Maxx Digital EVO @ 24 TB Through SAS - ATTO R680
Red Rocket - X
HP LTO - 6 - ATTO R680
QIO MR - Thunderbolt

I made sure that my buses are being utilized correctly in this setup. I am daisy chaining a 27 inch apple LED display directly from the PCIE expansion module.

Does anyone out there have a similar setup? Any thoughts? If I disable the Rocket - X everything works just fine running off the graphics cards.

Thanks in advance.

The Red Rocket-X needs to be the only thing on one of the thunderbolt channels. There are 3 channels on the Mac Pro.
So you should have a enclosure that only has the Red Rocket-X card.
That was my experience with my Magma 3T.

+1

Has to be that way if you want to get even up to the TB2 real world speeds. I have run it in the same enclosure with an ATTO r680 but its not ideal. I think you may be pushing the bus far to hard.

The d7000 cards were particularly problematic with RESOLVE and ADOBE until recently. I was getting green and magenta flash frames a ton. You may want to make sure you're up to date on the OS.

Did separating out the Rocket into a different chassis work?

I'm having a similar issue with a very similar set up (Mac Pro, TB optical cable into Sonnet Echo Express III-R. Within the Sonnet is the Rocket X, Atto FC-82EN (for Fiber to our server), and Decklink 4K extreme.). Whenever I begin a transcode, the Rocket gets 2-3 clips into the list then, for lack of a better term, stalls. The progress tab stays constant while the ETA time keeps ticking up.

Seems to me like a throughput issue. Too much running through the one TB channel?

Thanks!
