Help! I need advice from some Red Rocket owners.
I understand the Red Rocket always transcodes with full debayer. So my question is will it improve my transcode speed in this scenario?
I'm currently using 1/4 debayer in DaVinci Resolve for dailies. I get about 22fps on 5K 8:1 material going to ProRes 1080. This is an octo-core Mac Pro. I don't care about having higher detail, I just want max speed in this case. What kind of speeds should I expect from adding a Rocket?

I don't know for sure, but i doubt you'll see significant increases. If it were me, I'd put the money into a faster machine.

That's what I was thinking too. From what I've read, it seems I would need 2 rockets or a Rocket-X to see much improvement in speed. I don't have the fastest Mac available, but with an 8-core 2.4GHz, it's close. I'm curious to know how fast others are doing offline transcodes - i.e. when speed matters more than detail. What's the highest speed you get on 5K footage?
