Using a Rocket via Thunderbolt to a Sonnet Express Pro on a MBP Retina, updated to Mavericks (wish I wouldn't have, won't do that again)... Now I am getting playback with glitches/stutters in Redcine at all resolutions, Premiere runs better without using the Rocket, and Resolve does not seem to utilize it. Absolutely everything is updated to current firmware/updates. Installed Rocket driver/firmware 3 times, removed the Rocket from the enclosure, and reinstalled - still nothing... Rocket is definitely powered on in the Sonnet.

Anyone else having issues with external Rocket/Mavericks?

Thanks!

Similar.

MBP Retina, using a Magma Thunderbolt chassis with a Rocket. Transcoding 4K 2:1 R3D to Prores 4444 using Resolve 10 Lite. (Newest version) Latest rocket drivers, updated Mavericks with the latest build.

Longish takes... about 5 minutes each. Individual clips start off strong (24 to 27fps) but quickly frame rates drop down and crawl around 5 fps. Sometimes hanging up the system entirely requiring a hard reboot. Client wanted to walk with transcodes at end of the day.... nope.

Couldn't batch transcode reels, had to go clip by clip. Racking my brain... heat build up? bad drives? Never did figure it out, but limped my way through a long night of transcoding, and had to hustle to get them drives in the am.

Any ideas as to what I didn't do correctly?

Red Rocket not exporting...

MBPro Retina on OS X 10.9, mLink-R finishes with errors on exporting.
Rocket Drivers v1.4.36 on RedCine 20 and 22.

...and now? Any suggestions?

Thank you!

might be the new app nap feature? ... press apple-i on the app icon and deactivate ... might help

I also use the Rocket with Sonnet Express. Since the last update to the current version of Redcine to build 22.1.31200 each second frame of my clips (full debayerd R3D clip into 1080p ProRes4444) shows a darker gamma and warmer colors. This creates a slight flicker effect. This is a nightmare for green screen productions. We tried the rocket on 3 different iMacs models from 2011, 2012 and 2013 with and without mavericks. Always the same flicker result. The same Rocket and in the same sonnet box with the same firmware works perfect with the previous version of Redcine.

At the moment we can no longer use the Rocket. We develop our footage without the Rocket, which costs us a lot more time and money.

I got caught in the 10.8.2 debacle so I am not updating to mavericks till everyone including the pope and everyone at red bless it. I know this doesn't help your case, just commiserating .

I'm having a similar problem to Christian. RCX works fine, alone, but with Rocket, it generally crashes just on dragging a R3D into the viewer, and if if not, it crashes on attempted renders (I was able to get one clip rendered completely and a second rendered with artifacts and no audio, but...)

Running in a Sonnet housing (never version), BTW.

For those of us who depend on our Rockets, this is a very bad scenario, indeed. I knew better than to upgrade to Maverics, but was trying to fix an unrelated hardware conflict...

Anyone using a new Rocket via TB who can comment on issues or not?

Anyone from RED who can confirm that it's a known issue and you're working on it?

Yeah unfortunately I am having similar issues with the new Sonnet Express 3D on mavericks. FCPX flys without the rocket in the chassis and is super slow with it attached. RCX is also faster without the rocket since it glitches with it attached. Resolve doesn't work well with it either, which is a bummer.

I sent it back to Sonnet for testing with the Rocket. Sonnet told me that their lab would test the unit with RCX and FCPX 10.1 with a rocket and my chassis. I also asked them to test the chassis with the Rocket-X (which is shown on the box) but I have not heard back from them if they would test it with the RR-X. I sent it in last week so I am hoping to hear back from them this week with the lab results.

I am hoping that they get this issue solved soon since our RR-X is shipping soon and Dragon is on its way!

I am running the rocket in mlink box with mavericks without any problems at all...

Running a Rocket into a sonnet express pro with a Retina 15"/mavericks : no problem with Red cine X. With FCP X it crashes all the time when the rocket being attached to the mac.
Does Apple and Red are seriously looking at that ?
I have to transcode to Pro Res : what a pity !

Same issue here. Rocket works fine in RCX, but as soon as I try to tinker with it in Premiere, everything stops working. I'm in a new Sonnet enclosure, but still with TB1, so I guess that continues to be the issue.

Still have some tinkering to do but I am having issues with Premiere CC as well. RCX and Resolve work well but Premiere seems to get very buggy.

2013 MBPr Mavricks.

Would love to hear thoughts on Premiere and how it's working for others with rocket and if there are any particular settings and the such you are using.

Thanks.

Have been dragging my feet on installing Maverick on my Mac Pro Tower and I'm so afraid it will mess up my original rocket card with RED CineX. I have it installed inside the tower, are these external issues and not if Rocket is installed internally?

I heard the latest Maverick was stable with Premiere Pro CC. I'm editing a 4k project and with the GTX 780 6GB Nividia card PP CC is supposed to play happy and to run that card's drivers I have to be on Maverick.

Anyone ??

I've been running an original rocket under mavericks for months. No problems at all. RCX is fine, Resolve is fine.

Font issues all over the place, but no issues with Red Rocket.
