Hi Everyone,

I am still looking to see if any third party manufacturer have a proper universal EVF/Viewfinder system being built for as robustly as the ARRI MVF-1 (apart for stupidly conceived ARRI AMIRA micro-HDMI cable connection, which they later improved on the ARRI Alexa Mini).

Even though I hated used the "heavy" Amira on a shoot 2 years ago, I was quite happy with the EVF/Monitor (Button Based Control) System on MVF-1, I am just surprised no one is really manufacturing something like this. Its a no-nonsense system.

Rather than getting exited on Ks and sensor changes, I would rather be more pursuant towards pushing RED or any 3rd Party Manufacturer to make robust EVF/Monitor Combo for my WEAPONs or universal one.

Just wanted to check if any of you guys agree or know of such systems. Please no SmallHD or Loupe based ones, they are flimsy and not really adept for real world rental or documentary filming situations.

Honestly, I would pay around EUR5000 for something thats fool proof.

Let me know your thoughts guys!

Good poll, I would love one, but not if it's super expensive, anything RED is expensive so maybe you should change it to a specific sum of money with two options i.e.: 1) I'll buy it if it cost under 4K or 5K 2) I'll buy it even if it cost more then 5K or 5-8K. ? at the moment I don't have an answer within the poll options.

Thanks Oron, good point, I would definitely try to fix that! You can see the desperation of something like this that I really don't care about the expense as long as its built like a tank and has image quality similar to MVF-1 if not better.

now...how to edit this :)

I would recommend checking out the Blackmagic Viewfinder with Wooden Camera Mod. All in you're looking at about$2400 with the right mounting accessories and the kit.

It's OLED, SDI input, Camera agnostic, and has the correct sized field of view for a viewfinder.

Personally I think it's quite spectacular.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the info in this, I am sure it. But again its a just a EVF solution that makes the BMD EVF camera agnostic.

However, what I was thinking of something like the ARRI MVF-1, SmallHD tried making one with a optical loupe attachment (which everyone was excited when it was announced and became too fidgety to be used in a proper shoot).

Here is the link, check it out, its not as small as BMD EVF, but its useable, I can even use the EVF set the exposure to your liking and as soon as you open the monitor, you can easily frame your low or high angle shot. Its just practical and makes sense.

Just surprised no 3rd party is even attempting to make, thinking no one would buy! Lots of AMIRAs and MINIs out there as a proof that they would plunk 6K EUR for them.

Yes, I'm impressed people know how to create a poll, so to change it:-)

I really get what you're saying here, I've tried the SmallHD with the loupe and it felt like a toy compared to the ARRI. I wonder if someone tried to connect the ARRI to a RED?
I really enjoy using the MVF-1 on the Amira.

I spoke with someone in ECS of ARRI, they know its awesome so they want to keep this accessory proprietary. But I am really surprised, that no one really sees the potential of how cool that system would be with REDs.
