Hey all,
I don't want to burst anyone's bubble but the reason for using the Dalsa system is that David Stump ASC was brought on to supervise. I know for a fact that they had at least 6 if not 8 Orgin cameras for may of the complex effects shots. David is a great proponent of the system.

Not a bad idea. I have #007 - and he's actually named "Mr. Bond."

Here he is testing the new Artemis made specifically for the RED. (This rig is so cool we ordered one on the spot - bad ass!)

....

Hey Mark, what type is that MB?!? Is it RED MB? :w00t:

Roberto also tested the Phantom cameras, but he really wanted an optical viewfinder. Dalsa was able to deliver 8 cameras for a 360 degree coverage shoot in January or February of this year (can't recall the dates right now). We couldn't promise to deliver that many Phantom 65 cameras for these dates, but they were considered.

And yes, we've all come a long way since then.

Are you saying genlock can be used for syncing the shutter at any speed between 1 - 120.

Ah, you didn't mention off-speed. This is definitely a hole in the system, but I imagine the timelapse-singleshot mode may eventually get to this point.

what is the unplugged plug on your picture ?

This is great news.
The Epic will close the gap with film even more next year.
I think it will realy change the industry for good.
I love my RED for what it can do. I wish it had 2-3 stops more DR but it is a great cam already.
Cant wait for the next level.

Thanks
Tim

Bond & Dalsa

Bond & Dalsa

If there is more interest I can get David Stump to answer some questions about the Dalsa and the Bond shoot. I consider David quite an expert and pioneer on the use of digital on VFX and feature films and he helped me with the Viper before I came over to the Red side

Zombie alert!

John, I suppose there is a connection here with that RED One you recently stumbled upon. The old tests on the media wouldn't happen to be Bond tests, would they? :)

Apparently cards that were used for the test (Jarred and I were there) got mistakenly shipped out to a customer. They somehow ended up with Mr. Marchant. I'm glad this was brought to our attention.

Apparently... there were two tests. The one Jarred and I did with Roberto in April 2007 and then the one that Marchant "discovered" from December of 2007... which we had no control of.

fired then un-fired? What a roller coaster for the employee hahaha.

If you need anyone else on staff at RED let me know! I'm looking for a full time shooting position.

Jarred and I were at the tests with Roberto in April 2007. Apparently there was another test done in December 2007. The files that Marchant "found" were from the December tests.

I have apologized to my team. I was under the impression that we leaked test footage by the inadvertent shipping of cards used on the test shoot. That turned out not to be the case.

We take our responsibility seriously of keeping confidential stuff... well, CONFIDENTIAL. In this case (and in every case) we did.

We have been entrusted with The Hobbit footage along with footage from several other major features. We have never had a leak. It seems like we didn't have a leak in this case either...

Jim, Jarred, I'm very glad you guys have found your reputation solid as ever. I do hope you're not mad at me; I've tried to act in the best interest of those I thought would be most concerned and affected. Maybe I should have turned a blind eye, sorry. :(
