  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RMD saved from Red Cine X is different in Premiere

After reloading the R3Ds in Premiere open the source setting window and click on something like "reload from R3D", sorry I´m on a german installation. The grades from RedCine should carry over then. Hth,

Cheers, Ulf

Hey Ulf, thanks for the response.

I reloaded from the RMD that I saved through Redcine-x. My question comes from the fact that the video that I am looking at in Redcine-x is different than the video that comes up in my Premiere timeline after I reload from the RMD. This is all taking place on the same computer and using the same monitor so the difference isn't coming from there. I'm going to render out the sequence and see if maybe its just Premiere being weird but its not actually effecting the file.

Marcus, there might be a small difference but definitely not like shown in your sreenshots. If you stick to the settings that carry over to Premiere it should be in the same ballpark. Any setting in the RedCine Post Tab won´t take over though.
Also simply reloading of the clip might not be sufficient, did you open the source setting window (that´s where you can do all the RAW settings similar to RedCine, curves, colorspace and all that stuff) and click reload from RMD? Please apologize if you already did so and this advice sounds silly but those two possibilities are the only ones I can think of right now.

Cheers, Ulf

I didn't know that the Post Tab doesn't carry over to Premiere. Are there other tabs that don't carry over? Also do some programs carry over while others don't?

While that is really good to know, unfortunately I didn't use any of those setting when doing the one light in RCX. The only thing I can think of is that there is a saturation setting down in the Post Tab section. Is that linked to the saturation slider in the Look Tab? It doesn't look like they are because they move independently from each other. But that would explain where the saturation difference in Premiere comes from.

Again, thanks for the help!

Premiere does a good job interpreting the RedCine settings, but of course there are some differences and limitations. Those settings are not 1:1. You can still adjust the settings in the source settings window.
The Look saturation and the Post saturation work independent from each other and yes the post saturation being part of post looks don´t carry over. Also D.E.B. isn´t implemented yet.
Happy to help.

Cheers, Ulf

Good to know. Thanks for the info!

Time to get back to work!
