Here's a short film called RUR Genesis I shot on Lomo anamorphic / Epic-X this year. The piece is essentially a teaser for a feature adapted from a play written in 1919, which was set 50 years in the then-future, or 1969. So the writer/director designed a cool retrofuturistic concept which has a mixture of the media representation of historical 1969 and the fanciful 1919 imagining of possible 1969.

So, lava lamps and laser guns.

Lit with cheap RGB LED strips from Amazon.com and video projections on walls and faces. Source fours flare the Lomos nicely.

Trying to watch - but having real problems with the streaming video format... and I have very fast fibre...

Interesting from what I can see - not sure about the Metropolis clip - but the style looks nice.

Thank you Andy. What kind of problems are you having? If you let it buffer a bit, does it still not play when you start from the beginning?

Hi Jason - lucky I can't sleep (it's 3:21am here in Blighty).

Basically the video loads a little - then looks like it's settled/buffered (plays fro 10 or 15 secs) then pauses again and starts buffering. I checked out a random clip from your narrative section and that did the same.

Could be my connection if the file works fine for you (just did a speedtest.net and I'm around 70mbps on this laptop). But it might be prudent to get a few more people to check - maybe USA and worldwide?

Will keep trying :)

OK - got it loaded and watched it.

Enjoyed the tone and feel, the only section that let it down IMO was the shootout - felt too campy and Barberella-esque (new word for the day) - and the location (plus VFX fire) all worked against it. The flow would have felt better if it had cut from the girl with the 'call me' line straight to the capture - but, that's only my view :)

But, good job on visuals as I stopped looking at lenses (Roundfronts?) and started to watch the story unfold - always a good sign!

Andy thanks for the persistence and the comments.

Basically you echo my exact feelings on the piece. I do believe the campiness is by design, but that wasn't my call of course. Barbarella-esque is exactly what the director was going for, so I guess he achieved his vision.

Yes, round fronts. 35, 50, 75, 100.
