Help..

I did a great grading of my work on davinci resolve.. When done I did "Generate 3D Lut" of each clip... Then in premiere I tried to import my grading with Lumetri filter and after effects with Lut Color import and in both cases I get nothing like I had on resolve.. colors are insanely saturated. I tried putting the red files as default colors and it still has other things missing.. like sections I had isolated in resolve with windows and circles to color diferently dont appear at all when imported back to adobe..

Is the only way to get what you did in resolve to export a video file? (Recompress).. if so, what format is best output for files that were originally R3Ds? (I shot in 5k)

Ran out of time .. have to deliver the work :( will export as quicktime h264 and try to use speedgrade next time..

Myself the way I export from Davinci is using ProRes either 422 if its a 1080 project or 444 if the quality requirements are higher. I would not use h264 for anything since it reduce sharpness quite a bit.

If you are on a PC it gets trickier (thats why I moved to Mac). Maybe try Avids codec, or dpx or openEXR but a bit messy to render still images.

Good luck next time!

LUT application in Premiere is complicated, at best. After effects is a whole different deal. There are multiple way to transform your color before output monitoring - Display profiles etc... And what are you monitoring on? If AEFX is on a computer screen and resolve is on a broadcast display, one is likely sRGB and the other is REC709 etc... I would just do all the cutting in PP, VFX/GFX in AEFX and then grade in Resolve. Round trip it if you must but the headaches get heavy trying to get them all to play ball.

Got both ae and resolve on the same 4k grading monitor.. :/
Somehow itbjust doesnt import my grading consistently..

Will export to quicktime 4k.. does the non-lite version export 5k?

No matter how easy companies like BMD design the roundtrip between grading platform and PPro, Avid or FCP, someone inevitably comes up with the most convoluted way of bringing the material back into NLE for finish. I just don't get it...

tried speedgrade.. never looked back.. perfect workflow..
