Where is the best place/person to take a Red One to get serviced if needed or does that not exist anymore?

I'm going out on a limb and saying it does not exist. I had issues with mine and RED pretty much said, "Sorry, that camera is too damn old!" I don't know of any third party techs who can or are interested in fixing them. You are better off finding a used one on eBay.

What issues are you having?

No issues. I am just looking at investing in one again and seeing if anyone repaired them in case i ever ran into a problem.

well, for a fully kitted out unit for around 2k USD, depending on condition and hours, you issues might stand out to be media option, if you do not have the 1.8 inch REDMAG module, then you are in for a frustrating ride. Then it comes down to the weight and size of the camera. I remember you had the Scarlet MX a while ago, why not get one of those again? Or are you going for the nostalgia? Nevertheless, you are going to need a bit of support gear in order, so your spine doesn´t get the betacam-bend in it, rather the REDONE-Spinebend, i should say.

I know CG Wilson is currently the only person that fixes dsmc1, not sure if he fixes Red One’s but he’ll be the best person to check. He’s on the forum and all of the Red Facebook groups

hi Chat what was wrong with your red one camera?

As far as a good place to get a repair? That’s the challenge. There is no information coming from RED on how to repair these cameras. So we are in the process of reverse engineering as much as possible to keep these cameras going.

I can remotely try to troubleshoot your camera so that you have more information to provide to a general repair tech.

you will most likely want to find someone who is specialised with micro-soldering trace repair as the PCBs in the r1 have a design flaw that result with lifted traces. this flaw is the primary issue I see with these cameras.

All this to say, there is a small group of us who are working to keep these cameras operational and are more than willing to help.
