Is it possible to create a slim camera interface panel that allows basic menu control of the Epic? It could mount flat to the camera in place of the DSMC handle.
Effectively removing need to use the LCD Touchpanel, DSMC Side Handle or the Redmote as a means to interface with basic camera controls. If it sits flush to the body it could be very low impact and remove a lot of the issues people have making simple changes to camera settings.

Thanks
John

oh thats a really great idea, would be very neat & like the Alexa control panel on the dumb side :) Though in the meantime you could mount a RedMote on that side with Viewfactors plates

Thanks Jason.
I think the need is for something super low profile, hard mounted and hard wired.

John-
Great idea. I'd love to even just see a simple adapter (made by RED) that can essentially put the REDMote in the same spot as the pictures Jason posted, but that is actually an electrical connection. So basically a "side-handle mount to REDmote mount." That was, the loads of us who have V-lock batteries where the REDMote is supposed to go would have another hardwired option if we weren't using the side handle.
Best,

Right now you have to connect an interface to the camera to change any settings. The Redmote is not consistent enough with wireless and when its hard mounted it sits right where the battery need to be. If you are using a viewfinder you cannot use the LCD touchscreen. Which leaves the DSMC side handle. Why not make a much lower profile panel interface which can sit permanently on the side of the camera where the side handle mounts. Maybe it wouldnt be so small, but there is a lot of vertical real estate on that panel to keep the thickness to a minimum. If Red dont like this idea... can I ask for a way to hard wire/ mount the Redmote to the camera in an alternate location than the backplate?

Thanks John Chater for bringing us the switchblade.
