  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Request : IPP2 Support for Red Rocket-X

Having only 1 Asrock Fatal1ty X399 Professional Gaming and not having any problems I don't know if this is a commen problem, when the same happened with the TR2950x 2 things a possible, bad RAM or bad motherboard. Normally ASUS boards are highly rated.

When you want to know more about overclocking with your asus motherboard have a look over here

When you want to read more about overclocking the TR in general, have a look over here https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_ryzen_threadripper_2990wx_review,31.html, or here https://www.anandtech.com/show/13124/the-amd-threadripper-2990wx-and-2950x-review/13

With Resolve 4x16GB should be enough (with Fusion 128 works a lot better).

Perfect. Just what I needed.

Quick update:

-Overclock is going well. Was able to get a 5789 cinebench score after following der8auer's advice.
-I've got a pair of 970 Pro 1TB sticks on the way to create my scratch disk. I've got room on my DIMM.2 board that came with the ROG zenith extreme.
-Picked up a Hyper M.2 board as well in case I have any PCIe slots left and want fast media drives. My media storage raid gets about 780MB/s+ Writes and 980MB/s Reads.
-Not sure if that's enough or if I should be moving my project media to my scratch disk to do my editing? I always thought scratch disks were for files created by the NLE software that needed to be separate from the OS drive so, I've been using my Media Storage drive.
-Looking at DDR4-3200/3600 RAM this weekend.
-Disabling SMT didn't seem to do much for me. I felt like having all 64 threads performed better, but we'll see as I continue to tweak and interchange parts.
-My RAM issue appears to be the Motherboad. tested all my RAM sticks and slot's 7 & 8, closest to the back panel, on the motherboard don't work. Well, 7 boots with ram in it, but nothing above 98GB registers. 8 didn't boot when I had other open memory slots. The stick that didn't boot worked in other slots just fine. I'll get Asus on the line.

Thanks for all the helps, guys.
