I Dont know about everione else, but for my experience, the enter button has being the major problem of our REDMOTEs... often they get jammed due to the malfunction or missplacement of the metal spring that gives its movement.....

Unfortunately, when this Happens the redmote turns to obsolensce , it cant connect wirelessly , turn off, besides that the loose spring augments the chance of a short on the circuit board, so my tech tells its the best to leave it alone and turn it of.... From our 5 cameraas, all the redmotes got to have a loose spring at least once....

-------- REQUEST

To make this problem go away, we could be able to assign the ENTER function to the KEYS SETUP menu, and the I could remove the spring from the original button to avoid chances of a short and assign it to anybutton of my convenience...

let me know How many others have this same problem so we could have this addressed ASAP!

Hey Guys,

In Key mapping - SETTINGS > SETUP > KEYS, you can set any of the other buttons ("A" for example) to "Navigation: Select".

If anyone needs to get an RMA started for a faulty enter button, please contact our support team.

Please RED... give us the choice of mapping another key on the "REDmote" to act as the enter button also.

Thanks Nate. The problem is that that button only works as the 'select' button for navigating the menus. It doesn't seem to work like the 'enter' button for local commands. For example, it doesn't work to select the camera following pairing. So even if you want to just use the redmote as a remote start-stop, there's no way to pair it with the camera! (although the actual solution is yes, indeed, to send it in for an RMA to get the enter button fixed)

A couple points on this:

1. The mapping would need to be done on the REDmote itself. Any UI to remap the REDmote keys would likely need the ENTER key to function correctly in the first place to get to the menu and select the new mapping - hard to do if the key is broken.
2. Adding a feature like this solely to work around a hardware failure is a bit over-kill.
3. If you remap the navigation keys incorrectly you can easily lock yourself out (There is no backup touch control like there is on the camera).
4. We have a lot of real features to spend our time on :)

Trent, maybe a software feature is not so much over-kill in comparison to a design-flaw and endless repairs after all ?
