  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm definitely in on this too. Would love to see the meter, listen on phones and adjust levels remotely as a basic. Transmitting audio would be great too, I can see grounds for both.
Sometimes you just want to plug the mics into camera and have the sound recordist set the levels remotely other times it is great not to have too many cables running to camera, especially when doing complicated camera moves so the sound recordist could hook their mics up to a redmote, ride the levels and it would all be recorded on camera wirelessly.
Yeah you could use a wireless audio system to do this but at what extra cost? + You would have the complications of transmitter frequencies, licensing and international regulations that go with all that stuff. Redmote is supposed to work in accepted wifi range I think.

I actually posted this idea way back when too.

Glad to hear that some of it sounds like a possibility.

Personally, audio control, meters and maybe even monitoring are all very interesting. Transmitting audio from the redmote does not excite me. Also as a matter or personal interest I would never hand the redmote to the boom guy. I am sure there is a lock on it or some such, but I don't want someone else pocket dialing my shutter angle.
