I'm really excited about this so I'm kind of posting it everywhere. Anyway, the Alberta Motion Picture Industries Association just gave me an award for a short film that I made about a year ago called Reproduction! I'm not able to post the whole thing online yet because there are one or two festivals that I'd like to submit to, and having the whole thing online would compromise my chances of getting in, but here's the trailer:
<--- Click for the trailer!
Here's the Reproduction website with interviews, photos, and info about the production.
Reproduction is a short science fiction film about Alberta separating from Canada and re-implementing its old eugenics policies. A lot of people don't know that Alberta actually had an organization called the Alberta Eugenics Board, or that it sterilized anywhere from 2,800-5,000 people between 1928 and 1972, so I wanted to do this project to raise awareness about this problematic time in my province's history. Thanks for watching, and keep an eye out in the next couple of months for when I release the whole film!
P.S. It was suggested to me that I should keep the discussion away from comparing different cameras, but because I know people will ask anyway I'll just tell you now that this was shot on my DVX. An oldie, I know, but a goodie.
