Hello,
I had one of my Red brick batteries fall from the magliner onto a concrete sidewalk today [THANK YOU Switronix dual-battery mount] and since that fall, it will not take a charge. The RED charger shows a red LED indicator for that brick.
Has anyone had any luck with RED repairing their own brick batteries?
The side LED battery charge indicator works & states the battery is down to 2 bars of remaining power...but it will not take a charge.
Please advise.

Same Here.... would love to know...

I can't find the thread, but someone here posted that they themselves could repair the pins on the battery, but nothing internally. I have a battery that is dead now because it was dropped. Just sits on the shelf now. Would love to know if it's possible to have repaired.

I can most likely repair that for you, but I'm located in Denmark so shipping the battery here might be quite expensive.

I'm pretty sure the problem is that one of the wires underneath the top lid has come off. They're small, flimsy and for some weird reason glued to the shell, so when you drop the battery and the pack moves inside the battery then the wires will come loose. So if you know someone who knows electronics and batteries then get him to take a look at it. Be advised, though, that fiddling with batteries can cause fires and explosions ;-)

that was me.. I can repair.
Jeff.. you remember me ya? from the aquarium shoot?

PM me.. I might be able to help ya out.

Ive repaired 3 of my batts successfully

Zak - you might know as much (or more) than me. PM me if you need the low-down on my findings. I want to share as much of the info I have for the benefit of all REDusers. Share the love, right? ;-) :emote_hippie:

Actually, if anyone wants we've got a few spare Switronix replacement terminals we didn't use, to fix Red batteries that won't take a charge due to the plastic around the original terminals getting melted into the terminal etc.

As per this thread:

http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34141

I'll ship them for US$50 per terminal (postage included in that price) to whoever wants one or more.

PM me if you want them! (I have six available as of this post).

Cheers,

Paul

buy the V90RM or V140RM from Bebob Rouge - you can throw them about 1m down to the floor, they never will break. They are really cool at all.
www.bebob-rouge.com - we have them in rental and really less problems with fallen batteries....

I just repaired another RED Brick that had fallen. Once again - one of the wires on the back of the battery had come loose. Would greatly appreciate if those battery packs weren't glued to the shell; would be much faster, inexpensive and also safer to repair them if that was the case.

I've got a slightly different issue. I have a battery that reads as charged, but doesn't work on my camera. Any thoughts?

Have you tried it on more than one battery mount? If yes - then it's likely that there's either a loose wire or it could be the reed-relay is broken and simply not letting the camera read from the chips. Inside every RED battery mount there's a small magnet that makes sure a reed-relay is being enabled when battery is mounted. It "opens" a connection from the circuits inside the battery to the camera - thus allowing communication. If it's the reed relay or a loose wire then it's a fairly simple operation.

I had a battery get wet and hasn't worked a minute since - any repair for that?

There's a big chance that battery is toast, I'm afraid :undecided:

I too have 2 batteries now that came back from crews that won't charge. Stays at one red light and won't charge. Is this repairable? I know one was dropped and I have a feeling the second was banged around a bit.

Thanks,

Norm

I'd have to hook them into my computer to see for sure, but it sounds like it's the good 'ol wire problem.

I have to second Tony!

I have opened and repaired over 30, RED Bricks so far same issue, they are very susceptible if dropped or bounced.
If you are handy open it up, just watch out the batteries are glued in with liberal amounts of silicone (on the side with the wires-balance leads).

I can diagnose and repair them, base cost for simple repair is $50.00, a full re-cell will run $240.00 (9,4 or 10.4Ah)
Give a call or email me.
