Has anyone tried to unscrew the outer parts of the Epic or Scarlet body to repaint or respray?
Can it be done or do all lids have wires connected to them?

what paint or spray do you recommend? (naturally all part would be covered over, red logo, holes etc...)

I heard of appliance paint..
And Black Oxide spray paint used on car parts?

Thanks

Jorge

wow.. no one has custom painted their RED?

There isnt' really a reason to paint the body, and it voids the warranty.

As I understand it, most of the outer 'shell' has internal pieces attached to it, so separating them for (proper) painting requires full-on camera disassembly, which probably isn't something most people would want to get into.

That leaves painting the camera while it's assembled. Spraying or hand-painting would mean sealing up the tiny gaps in the body and/or getting paint inside the camera internals. Adding another layer of material into the existing paint also means you'd have to consider the thermal properties of the paint and surface area it's being applied to. The camera's can get saturated with heat even when running with fans at full blast. Might not result in actual issues, but again, probably not something most people would want to mess with.

Could have a negative effect on the trading-in/upgrading or reselling of the camera too.

Not saying it can't be done, or trying to stop anyone from doing it if they want to though.

You could look at getting things like the Tactical Top Plate 2.0 + Tactical Cage/Tactical Ribcage and painting those instead of the camera body.

Or if you really want to paint your body though, that's not to say it can't be done. Zeiss hired an artist for NAB 2017 to customize a set of CP.2 Lenses and they turned out pretty cool.

Looks like he used Paint Markers to do it, so that may be the direction you want to go if you're going to be painting it.

Third Option would be getting in contact with somebody who makes vinyl skins for different devices and having them make you a vinyl skin for your camera. This option would probably be fairly expensive to have done (compared to the others), but may yield the best results for customization without voiding your warranty/resell value.

Hmm, wow that custom CP.2 set.... I guess art is subjective ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Small bits of the grey paint on my Scarlet-W have rubbed off— mainly around the screw holes on top. Not interested in a full paint job, but has anyone tried to touch up the paint on their camera? I'm assuming RED would also do this, but for $$$$.

My cam is always in a cage, so I sometimes forget what the body even looks like, lol.
+1 to painting a cage.

I believe the paint is a powder coat that includes a process where the paint is basically baked on. Trying to match the original coat with "touch ups" would be difficult IMO. Scratches are character marks, right?
