What are people's reasonable rental rates for RED One's these days? I wonder if I'm going a little high on my fee?

Lowest I've seen for day rental with op was $300, and he was given a lot of grief from fellow users.

I think that whatever you want to charge is up to you, but remember that even a sony EX3 package is $400/day from actual rental houses in most markets, and that is without DoP/operator.
Even on a friend to friend deal I would expect to pay more than that for an R1 without lenses, matte box, follow focus, or tripod in Atlanta.

I would be getting a well maintained camera, without broken bits or flaws.

I know what my clients will bear, and since I now own my own camera, I plan on charging that to them.

Ratecard around here is frequently around $800-$1200 day for a fully shootable package with zoom lens and accessories.

What do you get for labor only in your market? That's actually the real question. In my market an experienced operator gets at least $40/hour for labor alone..
more often $53-$65/hour

I have a similar question.
Fellow reduser what should i charge if i ever have to rent out my gears plus myself as a data wrangler/2nd AC? I am in NYC
and in terms of low budget gigs.
Red One BT with PL Mount
18-50 RPZ
Obox with NDs & IRNDs x4
15mm rod setup
Tilta FF
DP4 evf & AC7
320GB RD x2
Secced reach 7 tripod *don't have it yet but i'm thinking about it

*NOTE: Please take into consideration that i am not going to be renting that often, i just need to know what's average per day/week rate just in case the right gig comes along. Cheers

Depends on the project. If you really love it and see an opportunity, then you might give a discount to work on something personally or creatively fulfilling.

A BT R1, Mattbox with filters, follow focus is pretty complete. The tripod is key, or at least a shoulder rig.

I'd expect $500 a day for your gear and your DIT service, minimum. You can get much higher, probably peaking at around $1000 a day for the basics.

Keir cheers mate.
Yeah i don't mind providing a discount when it comes to the right creative project, so this is roughly what i was looking for.
Keir or anyone..how does the weekly rate work? going from the daily to weekly do you simply add e.g $1000 + $500= weekly or what's the general formula if there is one?

Cheers,
US

Weekly rate is 3 days standard from rental houses. If you rent it for 3 days, you basically get it for the 7 day week.

So if your rate is $500/day, it's $1500/week.

Best.

do yourself a favor and see what a legit rental house charges.. esp including the lenses, filters, ff, mattebox, power solution, monitors..
you will be startled..
and if you brutally undercut them, you will have a hard time getting bits to complete/augment your rate to fill out your package..

I still think the question ought to be:
How much are YOU worth... and follow that with the value of your package.

It's a "Package," and not a "Kit," by the way, and here's why.

When talking to a producer in the USA, here's the distinction.

A kit is a general set of tools that a crew person brings with them, and the inventory may vary from person to person. It originally only referred to personal tools.

A Package is a department specific set of film making equipment with a detailed inventory and composition specific to the tasks planned for the project. Until the last 20 years or so, this was not usually owned by a crew person.

A kit rental is an all inclusive payment, and if you need to get an additional item to make it work, that comes out of the kit rental, and decreases the net revenue of the person providing the kit.

A Package is a specific list of elements with an a la carte price next to each. If another part is desired by production, it comes out of their budget, and increases the amount spent by the producer.
