how much would it cost to rent 2 arri d21, 1 set of master primes, 2 2k uncompressed data storage for 10 days. and what's the data rate of the uncompressed 2k files.

and how much would 2 epic, with 2 evf, 2 lcd, 3 red drives, 1 set of master primes cost.(if u buy it)

Someone can give you a more accurate estimate, but I'd guess that 2 D21 set-ups might cost about $24k for the 10 days (someone pipe in here)

We don't know what the EPIC will cost, but if the rumored $40k is true then that set up might cost about $200,000 to purchase

thanks,

24k seems affordable(kind of), i thought it would cost much more.

do u know roughly how much space or how many 1tb hard-drives would i need to store about 6 hours of uncompressed data, and how much can i record using the data storage.

are you talking a 10 day rental - (for a month)? or are you talking 10 days consecutive - which would be TWO WEEKS which would be 6 rentals days at the most (3 day weeks)?

2 EPIC packages PLUS Master Primes to buy will cost well over 200K...

Why would you buy this package, but rent the other? Are you trying to rent for 10 days for something upcoming? But it can wait until EPICs are shipping...

I'm confused by this post.

That would be the Master Primes alone

consecutive.
i was weighting my options,
if renting wont cost too much, i would rather rent every project.
but i want to buy the master primes as soon as i can afford, how much exactly do they cost?.

i can organize and make use of a short amount of time and make features in less than ten days.i have done it in the past, i can be very organized.

A feature in 10 days?! Organized? You'd have to be, but even then.....

That timeframe would be incredible providing it turns out something well made. You should make a DVD on "How to make a movie in 10 days!"

No offense, but were the movies any good?

In your situation, renting sounds better for you.
Master primes will cost a few hundred thousand dollars. Ultra primes are up there as well.

Someday, RED primes will be available... And I will buy them. And the Cooke red lenses too.....

yeah, once i did 165 mins of film in 9 days, they were all shorts, with different crew/cast(5/7 were the top 5 movies of a local festival), i dont sleep that much anyway, and i dont get tired easily when am doing something i like. they were also compressed in post, but i'm not as fast in post(i go frame by frame), i have seen guys with much faster methods but they don't deliver the best product at the end.

i used to divide the script to 5 sections: dawn, morning, midday, dusk, night
and have 2 midday and 2 night shoots.

it's all in the pre-production.

there is a uncompressed recorder called UDR-D100 which is used with D21. the hard drive pack is 1.2 TB which (i believe) records up to 78 minutes. and there is a flash version which is 800GB.

if you are not up against anything with sony's offering, i suggest you buy a F23 with included color view finder, SRW HDCAM recorder with Carl Zeiss DigiPrime (5,7,10,14,20,28,40 and 70mm).

all for $343,782. no cash upfront, just pay $200 for 6 months and subsequently $8400 for 48 months. this promotion available at bandpro.com up until september 30. its a buyout,if you wish to call it that way.

thanks for the info.
it's not the camera that i want, but it's definitely out of my league right now.

i said family business, i didn't say biggest, it's the most expensive though.

i don't get paid from it(mostly i do ads for fundraising), i'm just helping out the family.

but u probably cant hire me if u want an ad in egypt, because it'll cost u about 374,000$ to hire me for a 2 day shoot 30sec spot plus all the spot expenses.

that's more than the average cost of making the ad and running it in all the popular satellite channels for a month in any other ad company.
