  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Renewed RPP's w/Focus Markings Added by Duclos w/my modest collaboration ;)

Warranty kept in tact.. we support Matthew and Duclos 100% in this modification of the Lenses.

The only caveat, as mentioned, is that if something is broken or damaged during the installation/modification, Duclos is responsible for repairing it.

Thanks Jarred, great to hear you confirm this ;)

BTW, Matthew is Duclos hehe.

Ill take a few paragraphs to clear up some questions here on this thread. We have marked lenses similar to this before in the past. The most common was the Canon Cine Zoom like the 8-64mm or 11-165mm. These lenses came with few marks and needed a little help. So we had done this many times before. The RED Pro Primes do have some extra space for more marks and can easily be added. We check the accuracy of existing marks on our projector and again on a camera as well as infinity with an auto collimator. Some lenses markings can be off and some can have improper back focus adjustment. But the same can be said for any of the motion picture lens manufacturers. So it's up to the user if they want to invest in modifying their lens. Aaron said it best "If your lenses where incorrect why did you not send them back? Mine are fine."

We didn't extend the witness mark on Ketch's but again, if this is something you want done, we can do that. It's entirely up to the user. The marks are in addition to existing marks. The process time depends on current work load and currently, our work load is substantial. Ketch was lucky to have it done so quickly. He needed them back for a shoot and if you have ever met Ketch in person, you know there is no arguing with the man.

I'll continue to answer questions as long as I don't cross any boundaries or forum rules. :)

Jarred, would be really great if we could take this option right from the store when ordering, especially cause it might get more difficult if you want to order from Europe and you wan't these lenses to be remarked, I would be happy to pay little more if you guys could handle it directly with Duclos;

Thanks again Matt for the great work you guys have done, it was fun, lets do it again soon ;)

@Sven,

that was also discussed with Jarred, were any new buyer of the RPP's could have the lenses sent in to Duclos,
however no further details were discussed, so now will be entirely up to how RED fills this can be done.
