I searched the forums for this topic, but could not find a specific answer. Is it possible to rename the folders that contain RED files prior to ingest of proxies into Final Cut and/or rendering by Red Cine? We have a large variety of footage and it is getting difficult to keep track of.

Perhaps there is a document that describes what is acceptable without getting into trouble later.

Thanks in advance.

I would strongly urge you NOT to do this. Just like you wouldn't open up a film mag and screw around with the stuff inside, don't open your Red "mag" and mess with stuff. Sure it's "virtual" messing around but it's very important to maintain consistency with your media over the long term.

I'd recommend text file describing what everything is, then when you load into FC put your shots in bins labeled appropriately. Rename to your hearts content inf Final cut, but don't mess around with your raw mag.

Or simply create folders that are named sensibly and contain the mags that are appropriate to that name...
