Wondering if anyone has a simple, reliable start/stop for the camera. Putting it on a crane or jib soon.

I have made remote run cables. Have made for Prestons, can make for BFD, Scorpio, etc... Can also make a simple remote cable olny. what length are you looking for?

PM your requests, time frame etc... I'll advise if I can meet your schedule.

In the UK EF Moy at Elstree Studios can make Red cables and start/stop switches.

They made us 3 x 20ft remote cables with start/stop switches and tally LED, great build quality.

Email me for contact details.

Pana-tech, do you have a catalog of cables for the Red?

I'm currently working on a list and pricing. The cables I'll make will be for accessories, power, S/S, Audio etc... I do NOT plan on making any Drive, or LCD cables. Anything that carries acquired picture data I'll leave that to RED.

Basically, the cables I've made so far have been Preston FI+Z, AJA Power, MIC XLR Adapters, 12V Battery Power, Time code, Fujinon adapter. Working on several others.

PM requests, and I'll advise.

Thanks for your interest.

Wes

Whoa, you already have a remote start/stop cable? How are you doing this? I am not aware of any port on the Red that can be used to trigger start/stop recording.

Wes is awesome when I was shooting in San Diego on television series he was the guy who took care of all of our panavision packages. I was sorry to see him go to New Zealand.

Both the 4 pin DC lemo's on the back and the lens connector on the side has pins for start/stop.

Very cool and thanks for info, following-up on the lead. Wes seems like the guy.

Keep everyone posted on what we do.

Arrrgh... I'm searching for it, but can't find it. I could swear there was a post somewhere that specified which pins and what was needed for the GPI trigger. I'll keep looking. I think Anders is right, but I'd like to find where I thought I read it.

GPI functionality was added in Build 12.

Just make a contact closure between pins 1 and 2 on either of the Aux Power connectors. If you use the upper connector its Record Start / Stop, if you use the lower connector its Single Frame Record... more details in the Operations Guide Appendix B

Thanks, Stuart, I guess I can stop my search. :)

Upper AUX connector S/S enabled in V10. See Pages 56/57 V12 Manual. Been on the RS232 port from the start (no pun intended)

Greg and Chris, Thanks for the kind words.

Chris, I miss those monthly runs down to the land of Stu. I'll be in the L.A. area around NAB.
