Remembering Steve Jobs...

[Meryem Ersoz]

Apple's tribute today to Steve Jobs on the Apple.com page is quite moving. Such a great quote: "It's in Apple's DNA that technology alone is not enough. It's technology married with liberal arts, married with the humanities, that yields us the result that makes our hearts sing." Something to keep at the forefront, as technology moves forward faster then we can process its changes: there is no truth without beauty. This is a profound philosophy bigger than any single invention. Our species would do well to remember it.

Though Foxxconn seems to be the elephant in the room of their philosophy. A company as profitable as Apple could actually bring production jobs back to the home country if it was willing to take a cut in profits. When Obama pressed Steve Jobs on this, he said it would never happen.

While I appreciate Apple products and their philosophy; its important to remember that ultimately the overriding philosophy has always been maximum profit.

There seems to be a contradiction between those words and $ 117 B in cash reserves with suicide nets in far east factories.

Read his biography. Legacy is one thing. At the end of the day it's the type of human being you are.
