Hello folks,

My first major project using RED and RED CINE X, so please forgive me if this is a really simple solution. I've searched around but can't find anyone with the same issue that didn't get a response I've tried already.

Working in Premiere CC, editing my RED DRAGON 6K footage in there and doing colouring and grading in RED CINE X. The files were linking through fine and all colour adjustments showed up instantly when clicking 'Reload from RMD' in the effects panel in Premiere.

All of a sudden yesterday the same project in Premiere stopped letting me 'Reload from RMD'. I could click 'Edit Original' and it would take me into Cine X just fine, where I could make colour adjustments and they would save to the clip. When reopening Cine X the clips would hold these adjustments (suggesting to me that the problem is in Premiere, not Cine X???). Also all previous colour adjustments from before yesterday are visible in Premiere, I just can't make any more changes.

I've tried installing any updates, rebooting, shutting everything down and starting again. Then I decided to start the Premiere project from scratch, putting all footage into a new folder and re-importing it all, then reimporting into RED-CINE-X. The files kept their previous colouring adjustments, but even in the new project it won't reload the RMD if I make changes.

I'm stuck and don't really want to continue spending time in the edit if further down the line I won't be able to colour the clips.

Help is VERY appreciated
Thanks

Also apologies, I have just seen the RED support ticket area and submitted a request. Should have waited for a response from there, but still appreciate any help.

Did you perhaps use any of the post effects in RCX? Like alchemy? I know that Premiere doesn't read that part of the RMD so maybe it caused some compatibility issue? Or it could have something to do with updating. I heard a lot of people had problems transitioning from CC14 to CC15, but I, fortunately, did not. What version are you running?

Also have you moved any of the media? Maybe the RMD file got separated from the R3D file and it's causing issues.

did you get a solution to this problem? Mines suddenly doing it on a new project and I don't know why.
RED CINEX is clearly saving RMDs as I quit the program and come back and the work I did is restored however reloading RMD in Premiere does nothing at all.

anyone figured this out because I'm having this same issue. On some projects it's fine on other projects it's not working. what gives?

It has something to do with the master clip effects. There are other threads around.
Basically there are two places where Premiere reads the RMD and you can change values. The pop-up window that you get from the clip on the project, and then the tab in the clip viewed. They behave differently and do not communicate.
Depends on where it is reading them, it will update or not.
One workaround is selecting "disable master clip effects" in clip. Sometime it works.

I did notice this because if you click "save to rmd" in Premiere, it will save the Lut/preset into the RMD somewhere internally but the official RMD that's in the actual folder where the original file is does not get modified because you get reload that RMD in RedCineX and it has a completely different look saved. So I was just trying to figure out where the hell this secret internal RMD is that premiere saves to

peter were you able to find where this is. I am in a situation where when i hit reload from rmd it doesnt take the redcine rmd. I think if i had this location i could just delete them and force it to load from the rmd with the clips.

I have thesame problem,
I am editing Red Dragon files in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017,
i choose the clip i want to correct, right click --> "edit original"
the the clips opens into REDCINE-X pro
i make my metadata correction on redcine-X pro... then i close it , and come back to premiere... and the clip are the same of before. (some months ago it automatically changed correctly !!!)

NOTE : if I open again the clip in redcine-X pro the clip, I can see that it have manteined the metadata correction i did...

Please help me to solve the problem
thank you very much guys !

Adobe has known about this for at least a year but has not been unable to fix it. I have a workaround but it is tedious and slow:

Right click on a clip in the project panel
Disable master clip effects
Right click again and open source settings

From there you can properly reload RMD. You can batch modify settings by selecting multiple clips at the same time. Hope this helps.

RMDs still not loading from RCX in Permiere CC 2019

I've tried this and still no luck. I shot in Legacy mode with Scarlet-W footage and graded in RCX with IPP2. When loading the RMD in PP (source settings) it keeps the base "as shot" settings pre RCX adjustments. Basically nothing happens with the RMD reload.

Any help will be glorious.....

Kyle,

You're welcome. I'm glad that you found the solution to your problem.
