Sorry to bug you guys again....

so I had a couple issues relinking back to the 4k resolution in Color, so I decided to try using Cinema Tools instead and I followed step by step instructions from the whitepaper "Using RED Media With Final Cut Pro v30.10"

I got everything exported out right from Cinema Tools and also the edl from FCP. The edl frame rate, color project frame rate, and source frame rate is all set up to 23.98 like we shot in. I've also got the project resolution set to what I want to convert back to. When I click import the color project opens, but it's telling me my media is offline line. What would be causing this?

I did a native Red ingest through L&T because proxies weren't created for some r3d files. Yes, I did try to generate quicktime proxies for those clips using clipfinder, but when I clicked "generate proxies" in clipfinder nothing happens. I'm not familiar with using RCX so I completely stayed away from that.

yes,I got the same problem. edl ,cinematools to color workflow

I believe the problem you might have with clipfinder not regenerating the camera quicktime proxies/wrappers is that Redline is not installed on your system. It is a command line app that clipfinder uses for rendering and creating proxies etc. Redline comes bundled with newer versions of RCX and can be installed via the help menu "install REDline". BTW RCX is extremey easy to use and generating the proxies happens almost instantaneously. Just load your clips into a new bin then go to the export panel and create a preset using "quicktime wrapper." After, while selecting this preset, choose "BIN (all clips)" and in a matter of seconds/minutes you should see the normal _s _m _h _f proxies in the folders accompanying the r3d files.

You can then use these to conform a fcp xml via clipfinder and then send to color which will give you access to the native r3d files.

Hope this helps - if you need a guide to conforming there are several threads already explaining it step by step - just do a search or Hans has an excellent help menu in clipfinder as well.

As Gunleik was also suggesting, I find clipfinder is much much easier to use than any other method for conforming red files and highly recommend purchasing the paid version that has much more expanded capability. There really isn't much in terms of a red based workflow that it cannot handle and is very reliable.

You also need clipfinder 2.5 or newer.

I have had issues with clipfinder regenrating proxies, and have landed on letting RCX do that...

Then work clipfinder for all the transportation tasks.

Kyle - Did you ever get this to work with Cinema Tools. I get the same thing, all media off line and the media files change names to "Aux" #1 etc. Or is the only way to get this to work is using Clipfinder 2.5 and using the send to color function.

The feature I am cutting has a bunch of 200% blow ups from the 2K proxies, so I need to relink to the 4K files for the final CC output.

Thanks

Chad,

Because I did a native log and transfer I don't have to use Cinema Tools to link back to the original r3d files.
