The developers - no sleep every night. I just have to when I am posting the fruits of their labor :)

Can you tell me why I am unable to open it? I click, it begins to open, screen goes black, RC icon shows up and then poof, disappears and reverts back to desktop display.

I too am getting no sleep. Began to happen with previous version early tonight. New version still does the same. Have deadline tomorrow.

Any help? Steve, any answer?

Tim, try removing app completely. Trash the REDCine app, then go to Library>RedCine and trash that folder as well. Repair Permissions. Install the new version. Repair Permissions.

See if that works.

Tim,

At this point, if you can't get RedCine working, you may want to go the Clipfinder route. You can simply load your fcp xml into clipfinder, use it or RedAlert to do the onelight on your clips and then export.

Went to library and see nothing under Red Cine. Forgive my computer ignorance but when I installed, it never asked for password or any of that when I usually install an app on a mac. Did I do something wrong in the install?

Jeremy's suggestion is certainly legitimate, as that's where I spend most of my time is in Clipfinder and RedAlert, but if you like working in RedCine I suggest the following for getting it installed correctly.

Make sure old RedCine is trashed and emptied.
Download and expand the Redcine125.DMG.
You'll see RedCine App appear in the expanded folder.
Drag the new RedCine App into Applications folder.
Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.
Open RedCine. Start a new project.
You should now have a new folder in Library entitled RedCine.
All should be fine now.

Could someone please describe the proper way to install RC on a mac? I'm not as computer savvy as most the users here and feel I may have not followed procedure. It never once asked for a password nor did it show up in preferences/library. Just a DMG. I can't believe it's as simple as drag/drop. Documentation is scanty and presumes a level of expertise I don't have.

I'm sure it rocks but I can't get it to open. Help once again.

Thanks,

I'm going to smash something. Sorry, just losing my head on this one.

Trashed old one. Did what you said and it still won't open.

Brent, any ideas? It was working earlier today and after serveral bouts with Crimson it began to fail to open. If you have a step by step on how to install properly that would be great. Write it so most cameramen understand it (not post guys - they already know).

Thanks

steve pretty much summed it up above. I did the same path as he says and opened it up with no issues.

And if you still have issues, shoot an incident ticket to tech support ( www.red.com/support) so our workflow guy can get back to you.

Naming conventions, rendering 1920x1080 from 4k issues

Naming conventions, rendering 1920x1080 from 4k issues

How do I get ROCKETCINE to name the render the same name as the R3D file?

When I do a render from 4k to 2k it's all fine, if I render from 4k to 1920x1080 I have various problems with the render. I wonder if it's my host computer which I'm told does the ProRes rendering, it's last years 8 core with 8gb ram.

Tomorrow I'll try shooting quadHD and see if that renders to 1920x1080 easier.

Is there a manual somewhere?

Can I add to the batch more then one file at a time?

Thanks, Keith

It would be nice to have access to render to all the different new ProRes Flavors if possible. However, with REDCINE-X coming soon I'm sure we will see it then.

Anyone who is interested in the ana support can copy this preset into their REDCINE Settings, ImageFormats for full resolution anamorphic preview purposes.

"4K ANA",5632,2304,1.000000,24.000000

Who says we don't already have 5K? :)

BTW - the anamorphic clips from build 18 on come into REDCINE desqueezed which is a nice touch. If you are in a full 4K 16:9 window (4096x2304) you will be losing part of your image left and right. This should go without saying but just so no one asks, the reason the resolution is 5632 width is because the RED records 2816x2304 in 4K ana mode. When desqueezed you double the width of the 2x squeeze or in this case 2816 which becomes 5632 pixels wide while the height stays the same at 2304 giving you a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. Enjoy!

Mine, too, not working on my Mac Pro.

Is your mac on a network?

I had this kind of problem trying to install REDCINE on a Mac that was administrated through an network. The permission dialog box didn't appear so I thought it was a problem with the mac/redcine but after some research and contact with the administrator I understood that permission was managed in another level (not on the machine directly).

They installed it on the machine.
