  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: REDCINE BETA (v3.1.5) FOR XP

The release notes should have been clearer... Audio support is only playback in the UI at the moment. Next step is audio output.

Please, can you make setting in and out points for individual clips easier? My clients are tired of sitting at the computer with a calculator. Of course audio output as well and cross-platform LUTS, then you can stop.

I am getting slow motion audio playback. Is there a solution for this?

Don't you just shuttle to the in point, press 'I', then suttle to the out point and pressing "O"? It's just like FCP, Avid, or other NLE in that respect...

And if you click on the in window (numeral box to left of shuttle bar) or out window (numeral box to right) a calculator will pop up, and you can click 'TC' in that calculator to see your frames translated to timecode if you want to manually set points via TC.

I am a Mac guy, so can´t check this out, but do you still have to manually enter the framerate of a project, or does RC read your files now?
(I have long since lost count of how many times I had to rerender stuff because RC assumes my project is 24fps, while i NEVER shoot at 24fps...)

Great. Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts available somewhere?

I mean multiple in and out points. Not just one in and out point which is all that is available right now. That is easy. If you want to trim multiple clips, you have to type in the in and out points in the shot menu and you need to do math to figure out what to type in the box. That is what needs to be remedied.

It would be nice, but there are options out there. Only knowing Crimson, it's the one that we use via Redcine, and Scratch. Just think, you can have your clients do math, and plugin the numbers, or for relatively cheap, and a conform tool that will save them literally HOURS. It will pay for itself. Not selling any one tool over the other, just saying even though Redcine doesn't do it, there are options out there that will help you do it right now.

Hit "H" while in Redcine.

Thanks. I was trying F1 before... I guess having 20 years of Windows software development experience doesn't help here...

Also note that the help window is modal - it'll show you the shortcuts for only the part you're in. It took me a while to realize there might be an additional set of useful shortcuts in the Library part too...

For me, the control-right arrow, control-v combo (I think that's it) in the Player is coming in really handy for applying the same grade to a bunch of takes. Probably all you cool kids are already doing that but it took me a while to realize I could be working faster ;)

This is where post workflow comes in. RedCine (and Scratch) is not designed to be an NLE, you're better off sticking to its strenghts and utilizing an appropriate toolset/workflow like FCP > Scratch or Crimson.

I would not do this manually with any acquisition medium - film, video, etc...

Hi all, Just wondering, can Redcione work on windows vista? i installed it on vista but it dun seem to be working..

I'm not looking for an NLE. I just want to be able to trim the shots I print (or transcode). I also don't want to tell my clients that they need to learn another program.
