R3D Data Manager for Mac version 5.3 is released!

Updates in this release:
  • Support for Cache-A LTO devices: We are announcing the support of Cache-A's LTO devices from within R3D Data Manager. Our program will write directly to the device and ensure it is written to tape.
  • Tabbed Preferences: It is now signifigantly easier to find your preferences.
  • New Codec Support: We have added support for the new ProRes and AVID DNxHD codecs.
  • Log Changes: The internal log structure has changed, making it easier for you to find relevant logs, should you need to.
  • Snow Lepoard Support: Our software has always worked on Mac OS10.6 Snow Lepoard, but this version introduces our official support.

Upgrade Notes

If you are upgrading from version 5.1 or earlier: Due to an error in a 3rd party installer, you must install this upgrade manually. Please download the application from the link includede in the upgrade notice inside R3D Data Manager and run the included installer manually.

This version is for Mac OS 10.5 & 10.6 ONLY. Due to some needed changes in the structure, we can no longer support Mac OS 10.4

If upgrading from 4.x or earlier: You will need a new key before using this version. We have emailed all valid users a key, so check your email before upgrading. You can always obtain your key at https://www.r3ddata.com/order/resend/

It only directly handles Cache-A devices right now.

It will (and always has) verified footage de-archived from any LTO. By using R3D Data Manager before and after the archiving session, you will know that your data exactly matches the way the camera wrote it.

Conrad, get this message "The update is improperly signed" any ideas??

Conrad, I get the message :"You can't open the application "R3D Manager" because it is not supported on this architecture"
I'm on a MacBookPro on Leopard....what's the problem?

To anyone reading this thread:

I deem this essential software. Period.

Buy it. Period.

We are using R3D data manager 5.3.1 right now in a feature film , it keeps crashing everytime when we transfer files from red-ram. It crashes during the third part , checking the copied checksums. Any ideas?

Have you sent in a crash log? We cant start to figure out what the issue is until you have sent in a log.

For it to crash on checking checksums, it sounds like there may be an issue with the destination. Are all the drivers up to date with the destination?

I 've sent the crash log couple times but forgot to fill in the e-mail part. I will fill every detail next time it happens. The drivers are up to date , because without re-mounting the drivers I can continue copying files when I run the r3d after it crashes. The weird thing is this only happens with Red-ram.

You have used the crash reporter from inside the application? There is no email to fill out for that, but you do need internet access. If you are talking about the support form on our website, it does require that the email address be filled out. Even so, we havent received anything yet.

I noticed that R3D file recovery doesn't work on 5.3.1, I changed back to 5.2 and got it to work right away.

Macbook Pro 2.4ghz 4gb ram Snow Leopard 10.6.1

I used the crash reporter that pops out when you run r3d data manager for the second time after it crashes. there is a blank for e-mail. Anyway, I hope you will receive it.

I tried R3D data manager 4.3 with the same red-ram and the same external harddisks, transferring files were successful , no errors nor crashes.

I hate to say it, but I still havent received a crash log from you that I know of. Good to know that something is working with your system, but I cant start figuring out what the issue is yet. BTW, I cant reproduce the errors on my systems.

The code is exactly the same for 5.2 and 5.3.1, and Ive tested it on 10.6. What does "doesnt work" mean? What does the log say? Also, do you have network shares attached?

When using 5.3.1 and trying to recover a formated card under R3D File Recovery, after selecting source and destination, nothing would happen after hitting Recover, just a quick message saying Scan Finished on the Recovery Progress, 5.2 will start showing the content of the media to recover almost right away.

I'm reinstalling 5.3.1 and testing again, but on the day I had to use it it wouldn't work. I did reboot after the update.

P.S. Tested again with 5.3.1 and same problem, switching back to 5.2 and no problem.
