A new version of RED Log and Transfer Plugin released on RED.com/support.

Summary:
Requires FCP 6.0.4, RED Quicktime Codec 3.0 or later, all aspect ratios supported, 4K clips ingest as 2K, all other formats (3K and below) will ingest as native size. Supports 4 channel audio. Supports build 16.

Thanks, BC

Problem is that installing FCP 6.0.4 requires Quicktime 7.5, which hasn't been approved for update by Red. Please advise, thanks.

I did some good amount of ingesting B16 footage and worked fine with QT7.5.

Can you tell us which Timecode track the FCP L&T tool sees?

A new version of RED Log and Transfer Plugin released on RED.com/support. It should resolve the crashes some people have been reporting.

Unfortunately it still crashes when trying to read large reels. We continue to have problems with this tool and the camera. Such as dropped frames in the video. This will cause L and T not to be able to ingest the material. RED Cine gives a log explaining that there is dropped frames if we generate Prores out from there.

Also the camera overheats in hot weather. It's own nightmare that I won't say too much about. But I will say that the solution was strapping the camera with heatsinks and a fan. It was ridiculous.

Then the audio would not import through Log and Transfer on some clips.

Problems like these can put a production in serious jeopardy and when I call support there is little help they can offer as how to fix or even to why something has happened.

It's been bug after bug with this camera. Is there a chance RED will try to release things that will actually improve the workflow? It doesnt matter what "version" things are, it seems not to fix the biggest problems it has.

That was what I was replying to. It is slightly better in stability.

I did some tests on this a while back. Things may have changed on this latest version, but in L&T it references whatever you set up as your TC in camera, i.e what you choose in to display on your camera, edge code, or time of day. THAT is what will come via L&T and Redcine, in RedAlert, you can choose which one it outputs.

Currently with the new version of L&T, I'm having what I believe are some gamma issues, either I have something set wrong in FCP, but the proxies are correct viewed in QT player, but in L&T they're dark, like the gamma is wrong. Tried changing import options in FCP but things are still dark. Any ideas?

All of our Offline files have had a 2.2 gamma adjustment, created from a Preset from Red alert, we have close to 8TB of footage so far. We're on Day 38 of a Two camera TV show.

In L & T you have the option of using presets, so you can add the same adjustment to every clip you injest

Now RED correctly list the new version of L&T as 003. That's good, less confusing.

The earlier version of L&T has the half size ingest feature which saves us a lot of space. Anyway that we can do the same with this new version?
Yes it is more stable but I don't need 1:1 ingest for offline.

Currently there is no way to select the ingest resolution. 4K will ingest
at half size, all others will ingest at full size. I'm trying to figure out a
good way to allow this selection but the user interface availability
(wrt these kinds of things) is pretty limited.
