  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: BETA REDAlert! (v3.4.8)

RedRushes is an awesome little App.

Here are a few humble UI suggestions :

- Support for drag and drop. Drag a folder or a shot into Redrushes instead of having to go through the "open" process.
Same for RedAlert, just drag your R3D (or the folder containing it) into RA and it opens the shot.

- Make the "delete" key have the same action as clicking the "Remove clip" button. Allow for multiple selections.

- When you double click on a shot in RedRushes, could it open this shot automatically in RA ?
And if you hold down the CTRL key while double clicking, it would open the QT proxy (set a preference to determine which proxy size it opens)
Maybe we could also get a small window with a preview of the shot, similar to this little app, "clipfinder" : http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=15275

- Display some of the metadata in the tabs near the file names. Like resolution (4K / 3K / 2K), Aspect Ratio (16/9 / 2:1 / ANA), if an RSX file has been created for this shot (Yes / No), Length, I/O points, Framerate,...

- A load / save function to quickly set your own render presets (for example a high quality option with HD output, an offline option, etc...)

- Also a Save option for the current project / batch list, if you need to stop and restart later, or in case the app crashes (Autosave would be usefull too then. Maybe save the project automatically each time a shot has been rendered).

Thanks ! :o)
Nils.

Which version did this happen on?

RR is using REDline to run each clip as a separate process so rendering is largely independent of RR. I've done tests with running hundreds of clips for days and haven't had problems. That leads me to believe that you might have a particular clip that's causing a problem.

I'd suggest as a test, exporting a script and running that script in the command line.

It was with the newest version. I was rendering about 50 clips (long clips, B16 release) and 3 hours in it shut down cold. I didn't start over with the clips that had already been rendered so it couldn't have been the same clip causing the problem as it happened 3 hours later again, now way down the line. It didn't say why, just got an unexpected quit. I believe it happened 3 times and so I started rendering in groups.

Hey guys - just hope you all know how awesome Deanan is... look at how quickly he gets on top of bugs and getting new builds out.

DnX HD transcode

DnX HD transcode

So the newer Redrushes have the DnX HD transcode capability, but we need a seperate DnX HD codec upgrage? Has it been released yet, cause I can't seem to find it. Looking forward to fast imports into Avid MC.

Bug / "feature set"?

I'm seeing that ALE exports from RedRushes export to the root level of the drive, not the specified sub folder - regardless how many times you select it!

Works fine here.

Do you have any strange characters in your path to where you're saving it?

The Drive is named "Media_1" ...aside from the underscore and spaces in the sub folder names, no. I have recreated it on both a MacBook Pro and an 8-core.

is there a limit to how many subfolders it can be saved into? Case Sensative?

Try removing spaces from the sub-folder names

Very strange. It's crashing in the apple stuff so it could be system related.

Very strange. It's crashing in the apple stuff so it could be system related.

I was using a brand new 8 core, on leopard. Lots of space and memory. Rendering to internal raid 0. Not much installed there but Red related stuff and FCP etc. In short it's for Red-work only. Nothing but RedRushes was running at the time. I checked in from time to time to see how far I had gotten. Don't know what could have crashed it. I had shut off screen savers and what not. The only thing that was similar in the crashes was the timeframe. I think about 3 hours of rendering and then crash! Everything has been running smoothly with this system in the past, rendering clips on set in redline pretty much constantly for over a month without any major hickups.

Does the log say anything apple-specific? I don't know the first thing about reading a log file.

Guys-

I may have found a bug in redline v3.43. With the option --printMeta 3, the first line of output doesnt include the ISO setting, so the CSV values after the ISO dont line up with the column headers.

In short, it IS outputting the ISO value for the clip, but is NOT setting the name of the column to ISO.

That's fixed for the next release. Mark Pederson get the award for spotting it first.

Deanan, one Question please. Would it be possible to store settings at RedRushes as a preset? Would be great.....

thx
Rainer
