  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: Beta Build 30 Firmware (v30.4.1)

Installed the new, improved build 30 and things look great again. The image looks considerably cleaner at higher ISOs than in build 21 and the DR is back.

One little bug I caught: dialing color temperature manually differs in look from the presets.
In other words, 3200k preset looks accurate but when attempting to dial 3200k manually, it's off by quite a bit (strong magenta tint). This is true regardless of the value (I gave 3200k as an example).
Also, tint was set at -24 by default and bringing it back to zero didn't change the color temperature look in LCD.
Lastly, viewing scenes in RAW makes everything considerably warmer than in RedColor... I don't know if this is intentional.

Didn't have the time to test extensively, sorry, no charts for now.... :)

Just upgraded to 30 and it looks I have the same problem; crushed blacks, can I have some magic please ??

looking forward

Milan, I think that you're having the same issue that I did with the raw viewing. I believe that the raw and redcolor identification are switched. I mean that when you think that you are in redcolor, you are actually in raw.I found this on the first build 30, I've not upgraded to the new one yet.

…viewing scenes in RAW makes everything considerably warmer than in RedColor...

Surely that is what you would expect under tungsten light. Since the sensor is daylight native, the RAW, not being corrected for colour temperature, will look warm.

Which build are you using Shane?

I used 30.3.1 last week on a job, I'll upgrade to the latest today and check. I just stayed in raw mode (actually redcolor mode I think) and it looked amazing. This was a tungsten lit greenscreen commercial with matchmoving. Everthing keyed great, no more blue filters.

VIEW error

I found your other post reporting this Shane... yes there was a bug on User Key= RAW VIEW it would switch into RAW but not switch back.

Fixed in very latest build - we'll be posting the latest version of Beta today or tomorrow, so I'd hold off from loading 30.4.1 for the moment.

i.e. wait for the new one and then re-test.

That makes sense Shane. The only reason I mentioned it is because in B21, RAW looked overall cooler under tungsten. At the very least it looked a little closer to RedSpace as far as the CT is concerned. But I may be wrong, I often am. :)

twice the EVF locked up when it was in zoom mode.
I noted the same issue with the LCD on a recent shoot (build 30.3.1 shooting 4.5K). I also got a weird line of dots down extreme left of the image (I've noted its similarity to someone else's camera here). A reboot fixed it but I guess it's worth noting here in case the Red Team can find a common fault as a result.

Deanan, Brent,
Since build 30.4.1 camera freezes (sometimes) when I push the magnification button on EVF or cam. First it works, it shows magnified picture, but I can´t go back and no other button on cam or EVF works. Histogram shows a large green bar. Rebooting helps.
Known bug?
Thanks,
Marc

Are you talking about 30.4.1? or is there another build?

It's another (intermediate) build, in which they fixed the above mentioned problem of crushed blacks and loss of DR.

The Red Swat team is currently working on the official new build release I believe. Powered by Red Bull and espresso, no doubt.
