As someone that got the Pro I/O Module very early in the game, I have to say that I'm getting a bit distressed that Red STILL DOESN'T have a release firmware version that supports it! 99.9% of usage for my cameras is real "paid productions", that need to be as solid as possible. I therefore NEVER use Beta firmware. This means my $3k+ investment has basically been sitting on the workbench getting dusty.
A WORD TO THE WISE: Don't go breaking your piggy banks to get the Meizler Module ASAP. Chances are you'll be facing the same dilemma as us Pro I/O owners, only for a MUCH heftier sum. The hardware group at Red seems to be getting way to far ahead of the software department.

Why not give a try to a Beta version ? A lot of people out there are working with Beta firmwares on "paid productions" without a single issue...

I have NEVER stayed "stucked" with an Official release firmware.

Victor,
I've tried it. There are issues. Red doesn't warn people not to use Beta firmware on paid productions for nothing...

There are very real insurance issues out there using beta firmware. I was on beta so I could use my Pro/IO module and then for my production rolled back all 3 Epics to release. No big deal but Fox and Panavision required it

Great point Peter. Most commercial production around these parts doesn't call for that level of concern, but even a "low-budget" indie would have legitimate concerns about beta version firmware. As someone who has dealt with their fair share of insurance companies, I'm sure that would be more than enough reason to revoke coverage on most policies.

Safer, obviously. I'm not playing in the same field. Mostly personal productions, not pushing the brain to its limits. I agree with you guys...
