Hi everyone,

Recently I'm planning a workflow for RED with SCRATCH.
First, I would like to offline edit R3D file in FCP and export an EDL.
Second, import the EDL to SCRATCH and adjust color.
Finally, export the video to tape like HDCAM or SR.

I'm not sure if this is feasible or not.
My question is, can SCRATCH real time playback and be recorded by video tape?
Or can it export sequent images like DPX in real time without rendering?

Thank you so much.

Scratch is capable of the above. It all depends on your hardware. See their recommandations on their website http://www.assimilateinc.com

We are using a Scratch work-flow for 2k transfers to a HD-SRW machine.

Most of the "Champaign" toast you have seen of the NASCAR drivers the past 10 weeks on "None-Live" TV shows were shot with our Red one...
It's the slow mo stuff!

We have not gotten deep into Color correcting with "Scatch" at this point and that is purely because of a lack of personnel available in the post process .

I think there is no workflow doing a full debayer in Realtime from a 4k R3D.

The above workflow works on appropriate hardware when the debayer is done in half quality. Exporting DPX is like doing a render. It takes some time.

But Assimilate or the posthouse could give you more precise indications of what they can do or not depending on their hardware.

Perhaps this helps, go this webpage http://www.reel-show.tv/index.html and in the search bar in the bottom right type SCRATCH and see the first result that talks about workflows, conversion times and such. Keep in mind that this video was uploaded in July.
I hope it help on your worflow.

Sounds great to me. There is no problem with hardware.

Thank you all!
