  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RedWideGamutRGB: discuss!

Luigi thank you! Because of you I just noticed a small issue with the LUT. Totally my bad. I'm making a change now and it should be available soon.

Thanks Goran, I was in Davinci YRGB ;)
your lut is amazing MAN ;)

RWG will be great for you Ido. CameraRGB can be made to work, but you're re-inventing the formula for each and every camera. RWG is standardized, so works consistently.

Goran ,

Luigi, Try setting your R3D to 5200 -4 Tint between 250 and 800 ISO (depending on exposure) and see how the LUT's drop into place. :)

David

Here is your shot with the above settings at 1280 with "secret sauce REC 709 LUT" applied. Nice starting point I would say.

ooo yess DAvid nice;)
I chose this face because particular.

I wanted to leave everything in default without tint correction, so Goran could fix.
One other thing why I have to go up to ISO?

On my Calibrated Eizo the first one is the right one... ;)

Don't color-proof jobs on that laptop ha!

Yeah, that's what I thought :) I'm not at my grading station so I had no way to get it right... although, I've applied the rec709 display color space to the OSX colors for my laptop screen, I guess they didn't get it right :)

ISO is pre LUT. You change the ISO the LUT performs differently.

Nah man, monitors ain't got nothing to do with colors. It's because You've picked completely wrong frame for export - just go with smile, and colors will fall into the right place.

RWG/Log3G10 (dpx) => NLE (jpg)

hahahah :tongue_smilie:

I tried however to pick white balance on the chart (white), but it went completely nuts. I'm thinking there's some very strange lighting in this material.

Yes true .
but if I apply the Davinci Lut 709 of log310 be really dark.
Maybe I have some settings out of place.
But something that Goran tells me something;)

Beautiful this topic, it would be interesting to share the same files and make progress on the color;)

If you change your individual clip settings in the resolve color room you will see what I mean.

David

Do we know anything about BM updating Resolve with a RWG/3G10 color space for the timeline?

Is there a particular reason not to go with proper R3D to REC.709 trans...eh...form, code...something...the 709/709 (plus sauce not special or secret at all, the Alchemy) in, say, DaVinci? Why the detour to RWG/Log3G10 then looking for the "proper" 709 LUT, if it's gonna end up being 709 anyways?

Sorry, I had to ask, I'm a bit slow.
