  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RedVolts showing up on the store!

Yummy!

Ordered...

I currently haven't received my backordered Redvolts, but that won't stop me ordering more of them any way I can!... 2500mah is super light, but we're going to burn through them fast.

Like the case; nice and light also :)

Anyone know the charge time? Having a lot of batts is great, but need a charger that can handle at least 4 at a time or you will get so backed up..

Charge can take up to 2 hours and currently the travel charger is not listed in store afaik. I ordered (4) 4-packs the last night the moment this was reported. With one charger it would take 32 hours to charge all 16 RedVolts but that would allow 8 hours of shooting time and could charge 4 more again by end of 8 hours so 10 hours before all exhausted.

Now if there was only a way to hot swap those babies in the side handle!

Hi Michael,

We are getting through the EPIC-M Package backorders as mentioned in another thread, we have a ton of Redvolts we are just waiting on more travel charger deliveries . You do have the option to take delivery of your Redvolts now from your EPIC-M package but if you’re not up for allocation yet they wouldn’t include a charger.

Best Regards,

Nice little saving of $30 if you buy the 4-pack as opposed to 4 separate ones.

He's hoping that packages like that will be offered on other things...

:-)

The mimium to maintain shooting continuously on Redvolts would be 8 revolts and 8 travel chargers. That presumes 15 minute run time, 2 hours charge time, constant mains availability, all batteries being fully charged at the beginning of the day, no delay in putting any battery on charge, and no loss of capacity as the batteries age.
Given that chargers can't be bought right now, it's all theoretical.

I've been getting closer to 30 minutes run time. 16 REDVolts and 4 chargers should keep you going indefinitely. Theoretically. :)

Even 2 Chargers and 20 REDVolts would give you 18 hours approximately.

Hope travel chargers roll out soon for you guys, but on a side note, Red did announce a sexy-looking 4-way battery charger which will charge 4 at once.
Once that becomes available it sounds like two of those with two of these 4-sets of batteries would more than cover you for 24-7 in "ultra-light config". Add an other set for backup for each camera and you could shoot a feature without worry if you don't mind the short 10-second re-boots. Better yet... do what Jarred pointed out possible a few days ago: Plug in a brick, swap the RedVolt, unplug the brick... You could do that, and a magazine swap, in no-time. Bet a good AC could do all that in about 20 seconds.

You don't even need to do that; just swap them out one side at a time. You never have to power down or mess with getting an AC cable to your location.
