I have 2 x mains power leads.

It it safe to charge the XL battery (using lead 1) on the camera at the same time I am powering the camera (using lead 2).

I would not try it before I had a definite answer on that.... Why use two inputs. I think the power in on the XL both power camera and charge the battery simultaneously, no?

The power port on the module is only used when the camera is shut down or when the module is removed from the camera. When yoi are powering the camera using the regular AC port on the camera, it will also trickle charge the battery when the camera is on.

Are you are sure? I had battery and AC hooked to the XL many times when the XL is on the camera...

It won't do anything if the camera is on. I'm talking about the AC on the module itself. That port will only charge the battery when the camera is off.
