As, I think, there are some REDVolts floating around among Epic users, I would very much appreciate knowing about how long it takes to charge one. Thanks in advance for your help!:thumbup1:

I'm holding on to my RED bricks and picking up the backpack because I've heard it takes so long to charge RED Volt batteries on the travel charger. I seem to remember Jarred saying that the Quad Charger will get them juiced much faster and should be shipping the end of this month according to the last update...

How much is the quad charger? Is it in the store yet? Is this the battery module? Do I ask to many questions?

Phillip Bloom has 12 RedVolts; you'll need a lot of them if you intend to power your Epic/Scarlet this way.

I believe the Quad Charger will be $450. Its not in the store yet. I believe it will charge four redvolts in two hours.

I never saw a price posted by anyone from Red, but I have seen others list the price at $490. That is a great price if it is true. I paid over $1,250 for my old quad charger for Red Brick batteries.

True, but it's a tradeoff. More, smaller, lighter, versus fewer, larger, heavier. Both approaches should work. The Redvolts should pose less of an issue transporting-wise than the Bricks, but they don't last nearly as long.

Sure. For an Epic-X owner (which comes with 2 Red Volts and the Quad Battery Module), you'd need to spend an additional $2380 just to keep shooting for a single 8-hour day (2x$195 & 2x$750 for the RedVolts, 1x$490 for a Quad charger).

The same is true for Scarlet owners, except they'll need to spend an additional $2310 to get the two batteries that don't come with their kit and the Quad battery module ($1950).

That's $4690 to shoot all day with a Scarlet, assuming you can charge batteries as you go. If you can't you'll need to buy even more RedVolts!

Yep. No argument here. Should have added that to the "tradeoffs". The sole reason why Jim built RED was not to design some crazy camera that would take over the world, no, like all good businessmen, it was about the incidentals. He's cornered the lithium market.

1) With the Quad Charger 4 batteries charge in 2 hours.

2) You can buy 4 packs of Red Volts for $750.

3) There will be a 2 battery module or just use the Side Handle if money is tight.

4) Use the power adapter when shooting indoors.

2 x Red Volt 4 packs and you should be more than good with Scarlet. As each battery dies throw it on the charger...

i think powering off Anton Bauer or Vmount battery is best for most situations but the REDVOLTS are nice when you want something really compact and lightweight. It's all about flexibility and not a single solution in my opinion. You probably won't want to wrestle with a bunch of revolts when you have multiple accessories attached to the camera and drawing power (when/if that's even possible).

I can see the redvolts being super handy on that himilayan expedition with 3 flights, train, car then pack animal

cannot wait...
Im almost exclusively RED VOLTS at the moment... the Charger is the only thing stopping me from being 100% RED VOLTS.

I so hope they don't go onto BACKORDER for months like everything else...

CANON MOUNT... SIDE GRIP... QUAD REDVOLT CHARGER... Bomb evfs... and PLAYBACK..

Get all four of these going and the camera will be PERFECT!!!!!

So so close... :)))))))
