  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDuser Event Pictures (Working EPIC!&%!!)

Ask Jim if they are a scam. :)

These are good ones I'd love to hear about:
HDR Mode
SCarlet Focal length
RED HMI?? Is it real?

Thanks for the tons of pictures. The one think I want the most is to see 5k at 4k, bummer to miss this. Hope there will be an other event in LA soon.

Lovin' the cybernetic shoulder rig in photo 99 on your facebook profile. Can't decide if it looks comfy or like a prop from Terminator.

Any new news or announcements yet?

Oh and additional question:

Can I get an early beta program Scarlet S35 and 2/3" delivered next week please?

Seriously though, any news on the suggested audio monitoring on redmote or similar built in audio streaming?

Thanks for getting the pics to us.

There was also mention of a replacement for the two shoulder rigs we saw in Oct 30th announcement mock ups. Was pic 99 it?

After pondering a little longer, I'm not so surprised about RED HMI now, they wanna be a full no joke cinema production company. Cameras, lights, accessories? Arri, Panavision, they do the same thing. Why not RED? It's literally gonna be clash of the Titans, we won't be just be seeing Alexa vs EPIC, it's gonna be ARRI SUN vs RED HMI, so on and so forth...

Makes sense now that they were so vocally proud of those gorgeous lights... what's the name? Briese? The ones with the umbrella reflectors, tons of sizes, patterns, I think some adjust the umbrella for a "spot-flood" (but much different) type effect... maybe they were researching, buying a lighting manufacturing/design house? sharing info and efforts? or just hinting that they are interested in lighting as well...

in any case, it does make lots of sense

Any info on the 1080 scaled onboard recording format for Eic and scarlet would be mighty appreciated.
Presumably it is fully debayered then scaled down to 1080 and some kind of color interpretation must be going on in this process too (combining RGB sensor sites during debayer after all). I presume it's recorded 10bit, with a neutral color/ gamma for gradeability and recorded into a wavelet based compressed format. Confirmation on all this would be great. As would details of file sizes, playback performance without Red Rocket and anything else to do with this mystery aspect of the system.

It is very comfy. Very snug on the shoulder

Yes. This is current...

As far as I see it the 1080 scaled mode would be the one used for broadcast TV work or other work where quicker turnarounds and the archiving/futureproofing/theatrical distribution benefits of the full resolution recording aren't needed. Therefore it would make sense if it was an easily editable format that doesn't require any transcode and has good playback performance on average systems(no extra hardware like red rocket required).

P.S. I like the way they put the TM on the end of RR automatically. Neat!

Cool I like it.
How does it deal with the cabling requirements at the lower rear of the brains?
Is there a cable run for hooking up modules behind the shoulder to use as a counterweight?

Mike Seymour made I and everybody else at the first REDuser Vegas Party raise our hands and swear never to do this, but I hope in this case I may be granted an exception: Joseph, Zac, YOU GUYS RAWK! (Sorry, Mike!) :nads:

RED RAY looks a monster, what a tool!. If I was there will steal a couple!

And a 575 HMI!!! kabooom!
