Need a little help here...

I am using REDUndead and after going through "diskutil list" and finding out my REDmag is disk9, I type in this "redundead *SPACE* /dev/rdisk9 *SPACE* /Users/brennan/Desktop/REDUndead/ (REDUndead being the folder on my desktop).

After that, it immediately says "done!" There are no recovered files in the folder after that. Is there something I am doing wrong. There has been more footage put onto the cards, but I was hoping that the rumor that you could recover data even after formatting the card and shooting again would be true.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Was able to get the footage to begin extracting by using a "sudo" command. Now, my question is that it recovered footage from a shoot I did weeks ago but nothing from the shoot I need to recover from yesterday... Thoughts?

Due to changes in OS-X from now on you will need to use the 'sudo' command. Learned that a few days ago.

As long as you haven't done a secure erase, written zero's to it, or popped it in a microwave, REDundead should be able to grab clips. All a format does is erase the roadmap on how to get to the data, all the footage is still there. Once you run REDundead, I do not believe you can re-run it on the same card to try and pull more data, and it's always going to be a little bit of a gamble as to what and how much it will actually be able to pull back.

You are 100% positive that was the card that was shot on that needs recovered? When ever I use the program it always brings the most recent footage, unless I filled the card to almost full the time before, then it's a mix of footage.

I am 100% positive. I even tried it on my other card to try and make sure. It pulled files from weeks ago. Nothing came back from the shoot 2 days ago that I need.

I had the same issue.. it immediately posted "done". I haven't played with it since but saved the card I hope to get the footage from. I have an experienced DMT working with me tomorrow and he has experience and success so I am hoping he can retrieve the files. I will check in with you after he has a go at mine and share what I learn.

To elaborate, sudo was described to me (by a close friend with a programming degree) as "super user do". When you put it before a command, you're telling the computer "No, seriously, I know what's best for me." Often the computer will respond with a Password prompt.

There are absolutely things that you could do with sudo that would wreck your entire system. However, I can't think of any of them that would occur while trying to use RedUndead.
