I was trying to recover media off of a formatted CF card with the new redundead beta. The card has only been re-formatted in camera and no clips have been recorded on the card since.

After typing the command in terminal:

redundead /dev/rdisk6 /Volumes/newdisk

(my CF card happens to be in disk 6)

I receive:

Found File: A013_C001_0625DS_002.R3D
Could not create /Volumes/newdisk

I tried changing the directory, running as root, etc.... no luck!

Then.... I manually entered "mkdir /Volumes/newdisk" (PRESS ENTER)

then the redundead command above and it wrote and closed 7 files!

but then the R3D files were nowhere to be found, except they were visible in terminal if I type "cd /Volumes/newdisk" and enter "ls"

I was able to manually create a folder called Temp on my boot drive in Finder, then type "mv *.R3D /Temp" for every recovered file to move each one. My question.... is there an easier way to locate the recovered files???

I hope any of this info is helpful.

You may have to login as root to run some of those commands. just type "sudo -s" enter your root pw and you're good to go!

Had the same problem. For me trying to write to a drive that included spaces in the name was the culprit.

So "Macintosh HD" did not work [e.g. I got the "could not create volume" error], where "MacintoshHD" worked.

Go figure.
