  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Reduced Scarlet-X Setup

Cheapest way to get power into the box, is probably an IDX V-mount plate with a RED/Epic/Scarlet LEMO adaptor of sorts...
)

Any idea on how long the IDX batteries last on epic, and how long it takes to charge?

Quick Question. Does the Scarlet X still have an HDMI out? It used to be visible in the back lower section but all the shots of it in the announcement don't seem to show it there. It may just be obscured but I seem to recall the Epic not having HDMI but rather SDI and I wanted to confirm that it is still there. I'm also trying to figure out if and how to run lean with this.

PS ...It is my recollection that using the touchscreen alone provides control over all the settings and functions. What they really need is a cheap single battery adapter for the back for light tripod use. Seems that would have been a good cheap option for those of us who are financially challenged.

Can't see why that shouldn't work.

Paul Leeming posted images of his plasma being driven through HDMI with menues and all from the latest Epic Betabuild.

Actually SmallHD is offering DP6 SDI and DP6 SLR so I was wondering which one works better.

Ok looks like SDI it is. But again... another query

IDX batteries come in Different Watt Hours so depends whether you buy 90w 120w 140w 180w etc as to how long they last. Different manufacturers have chargers which work at different speeds too. I'm getting just over an hour on a W140 Hawkwoods Li-ion bat so 8 will do you for the day. They are about £350 each so not cheap but I've had my set for 3 years and they are still going strong.

See yah gonna be racking up the goodies!

Nice One!

BTW what kind of glass you thinking of these days?

Hey Eric,

I'm not decided, but at this point I'm considering from these lenses...

11-16mm Tokina - perhaps duclos cine modded
Voigtlander NOKTON 25mm f/0.95
Zeiss 35mm f2 Duclos cine modded
Zeiss 50mm f1.4 Duclos cine modded
Canon 24-70mm
canon 50mm 1.4
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens
Canon 100mm macro

How about you?

How long do REDbricks take to charge and how much do they weigh? Also, is there anything stopping you from using the belt pack on the end of rods as a counter balance... I mean, other than a loop of cable sticking out?

Hi Ravi

I recall seeing that bit of info in a video where someone (possibly Ted) said that you can control all the functions via the 5" touch screen. That was a while ago and everything does change but it seems that it would still be true. I would prefer to see it officially confirmed by someone who knows. Maybe an Epic owner can confirm this.

There is still a need for power unless you plan to use an AC adapter.
